Spoilers for New York Times best-selling author Chris Bohjalian's novel 'The Flight Attendant'

If you've watched the trailer of HBO Max's upcoming thriller titled 'The Flight Attendant' based on Chris Bohjalian's novel of the same name — you will have one burning question. Did Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) kill her Bangkok lover Alex (Michiel Huisman)? The trailer of the series shows Cassie as a reckless and drunk flight attendant who meets Alex on the plane.

After a rendezvous in the plane's lavatory, the duo hit the sights of the city making it back to the hotel room to spend the night. Unfortunately for Cassie, this doesn't end up like all her other one-night stands — rather she wakes up to a beautiful view and a dead body.

"I met Alex on the plane, we had dinner at Bangkok, we went back to his hotel and when i woke up in the morning HE WAS SO ALIVE!" Cassie tells the feds. At that moment, and probably the most daunting of all the parts of the plotline, a dead Alex whispers in her ear — "you think they know you're lying?"

Terrified at only the "flickers" of moments she can remember of the night, the preview shows Cassie's best friend ask her why she cleaned it up? Cassie, as scared as one can be in a situation like this, says she does not know.

Now, with this information, the trailer sets up the premise that it is highly likely that Cassie could have murdered her one-night lover - the preview also suggests she's quite a drunk with her admitting, "I'm a crazy drunk flight attendant, I'm not a killer." While we'd like to tell you the entire story, we'd be lying if we said it wouldn't ruin the thrilling adventure Cassie ends up as she tries to prove her innocence.

If you've read Bohjalian's novel, and if the series has decided to match the novel's authenticity — then you know there is more to the story than just did Cassie kill Alex? Her inability to remember the night due to her alcoholism, her need to attend Alex's funeral, her reasons for lying to the feds and cleaning up the crime scene all come to haunt her. Let's just say prison isn't where she ends up.

The official synopsis reads, "The Flight Attendant is a story of how an entire life can change in one night. A flight attendant (Kaley Cuoco) wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man – and no idea what happened. The dark comedic thriller is based on the novel of the same name by New York Times best-selling author Chris Bohjalian."
