Spoilers for New York Times best-selling author Chris Bohjalian's novel 'The Flight Attendant' and HBO Max series

While Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) and her dead one-night lover Alex (Michiel Huisman) seem to be the most central characters of the story adapted from Chris Bohjalian's novel 'The Flight Attendant', lets' not forget that secondary characters can hold a lot of water when it comes to the plotline.

In the released trailer of the series, we hear that Annie Mouradian (Zosia Mamet) is Cassie's best friend and lawyer who asks her the most relevant question that could tie Cassie to Alex's murder — why did Cassie clean up the crime scene? The preview also shows co-flight attendant Rosie Perez say that the FBI wanted information about Cassie, and with Cassie wanting to dig into the situation, Annie warns her to not do anything stupid.

Of course, Cassie goes to Alex's funeral. Later, we even hear Annie ask Cassie "What did you get me involved with?" So, how does Cassie's lawyer Annie keep her one step ahead of the FBI and away from federal custody?

Annie (HBO Max)

Annie, to say in the least, is a mix of cynicism and intelligence, and a little too comfortable with knowing how to work things in her favor. We don't know how much of the novel is embedded into the series, and to what accuracy but with the fact that the preview shows Cassie depending on Annie, we believe that she plays quite a major role.

The preview doesn't show Cassie being arrested, which we would assume would be thanks to her best-friend-lawyer, but how does Annie do it? Again, we'd love to ruin the surprise for you, or even spoil the ending of the novel (if you haven't read it) but we can tell you that nobody in the series is who they say they are.

She is smart, and at times is a refreshing contrast to Cassies' outbursts – she seems to be quite an important character and definitely adds to the buildup of Cassie's horrific journey. It's more than just a murder, and Annie helps Cassie try not to any of the stupid moves she thinks of doing — you'll know what we mean when you watch the series. Annie does manage to help Cassie out when it comes to the FBI — we'd assume she has favors she's cashing in, so her best friend is safe.

The official synopsis reads, "The Flight Attendant is a story of how an entire life can change in one night. A flight attendant (Kaley Cuoco) wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man – and no idea what happened. The dark comedic thriller is based on the novel of the same name by New York Times best-selling author Chris Bohjalian."

The first three episodes of 'The Flight Attendant' premiere on HBO Max Thursday, November 26, followed by the launch of two new episodes on December 3, two episodes on December 10, and the finale episode on December 17. Watch the trailer below:
