Five new magical creatures to watch out for in 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald'

With less than a week for the theatrical release of 'Fantastic Beasts 2', it's time for ardent Potterheads to brush up their magical creatures glossary.
UPDATED JUN 2, 2021

New magical creature in The Crimes of Grindelwald: Augurey

Appearing for the first time in the second film, 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald', in a scene right behind Newt's sidekick, Jacob, this creature looks particularly low and sad, whose sobbing song announces rain.

New magical creature in The Crimes of Grindelwald: Baby Niffler

Remember the troublesome creature attracted to shiny things, and wreaked mayhem for Newt in the first Fantastic Beasts film? It's going to make a return this time - courtesy Newt who has been breeding them apparently - even though it doesn't appear in any of the teasers or trailers released so far.

New magical creature in The Crimes of Grindelwald: Firedrake

Probably a dragon like creature that unleashes fire from its tail? We are getting some major Norberta vibes here, but will Newt be able to tame the beast just as skillfully as Hagrid had tamed the baby dragon? Only time will tell what the Firedrake sets ablaze!

New magical creature in The Crimes of Grindelwald: Leucrotta

Right after witnessing Augurey, the next scene showed a large moose with an even larger mouth. Why? Because that's the only distinguishing trait about this magical creature that could pass off as a harmless animal any day. And that does make one wonder - what other hidden powers does it possess?

New magical creature in The Crimes of Grindelwald: Zouwu

This sad creature has been chained to a life of captivity, and as the trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 has shown, Newt is most probably going to offer it a life of rehabilitation after that. Whether it continues to wrek havoc or not will be revealed only once the movie has released!
