Shocking video shows woman taking Mississippi Walmart worker hostage before being shot dead by cops
RICHLAND, MISSISSIPPI: A worked-up customer held a Mississippi Walmart worker at gunpoint on Wednesday, December 21. The hostage situation unfolded due to unknown reasons but was soon over once the police arrived. The distressed woman had her gun pulled out and aimed at the worker who was clearly scared for her life as captured in a video. The cops had to take lethal action to contain the situation.
The incident took place at a Richland store on Wednesday at around 5.40 pm where a woman can be seen carrying a gun and holding a helpless Walmart employee hostage as per the footage. The perpetrator seemed angry about something which could not be deciphered. The police had to rush to the scene and shoot the woman dead to free the captive. Walmart is yet again a victim of violence as the incident happened only a month after the mass shooting in Virginia Walmart that left six workers dead. The shopper recording the happenings was caught by the woman who yelled out, "Hey, I'm not gonna hurt anybody." The shopper replied, "Why don't you let her go then?" She replied, "We're not doing this 'good cop,'" and the video ends abruptly.

As per the video, the woman could be repeatedly seen asking for a news anchor for an unknown purpose. Once the police arrived at the scene and confronted the woman, she could be frantically heard yelling her same request of getting her a news anchor. Meanwhile, the officers instructed her to drop her weapon. She was then shot down by the police officers and there were no other casualties. Richland police Chief Nick McLendon told WAPT post the incident, "It's devastating for all parties involved — the officers, everybody that was involved in this situation. You know, with the Christmas season coming, mental health is a big deal because of the stress involved in the Christmas season."
Richland Police Department reported the incident on their Facebook page saying, "RPD had an officer involved shooting this evening at Walmart, all of our officers are safe! Walmart is secure and closed at this time. MBI will be conducting an independent investigation. One shopper talked to WAPT and said, "We barely got in, people were running out and people were screaming 'get out' to me and my cousin. So we ran out and it was just horrifying and then we heard the gunshot."
