With a month to go for the fifth season of 'Fear the Walking Dead', the American horror-drama series has seen a slew of developments ever since AMC renewed the show for a fifth season in July 2018. After a game-changing season four, it's interesting to see how the upcoming episodes will pan out.  Here's what we know about season five so far:

Release

'Fear of the Walking Dead' Season 5 is slated to release on AMC UK on June 3 at 2 am and is simulcast with the US.

Plot

Morgan Jones (Lennie James) and his group have a clear mission —- locate the survivors and help them. According to TVWise, the story revolves around each character trying to help others so as to redeem the mistakes of their pasts. The mission will be put to test when the group finds themselves in unfamiliar territory where they do not just have to face the demons of their pasts, but also their biggest fears. However, with the return of Ruben Blades' Daniel Salazar and Daniel Sharman's Troy Otto, who had gone missing and presumed dead in season four, there is a hint that there will be a sequence revisiting the past.

Dwight is back: Austin Amelio will return in 'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 5 (IMDb)

Cast

Lennie James will be returning as Morgan Jones. In January, it was announced that Austin Amelio would join the cast as Dwight, who last appeared in the eighth season of 'The Walking Dead'. Karen David, who plays Grace, is also reported to return as a series regular. Mo Collins reprises her role as Sarah, the adoptive sister of Wendell and a former Marine, while Daryll Mitchell returns to play Wendell.

Director/Writer

Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg have been showrunners since the fourth season, while Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Lori Grimes on its companion series 'The Walking Dead', will direct an episode.

Trailer

To begin with, the trailer is quite lengthy spanning close to 4 minutes and 10 seconds. But it does reveal a lot, starting with the return of  Rubén Blades' Daniel Salazar, not seen since the dam explosion that closed out season 3's finale 'Sleigh Ride'. This is followed by Austin Amelio's Dwight being shown at the fag end of the trailer. The character was last seen in 'The Walking Dead' season 8 finale 'Wrath'.

News

Talking to Comicbook, Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple, said that 'The Walking Dead' and season 5 of 'Fear of the Walking Dead' will further tell a story first seen on the flagship series. "This season, I wouldn’t classify it as an enemy, but there will be this — beyond Austin [Amelio] — this very interesting commonality, this story strand that’s gonna be furthered on this show that started on 'The Walking Dead'," Gimple said.

And that's what we have from 'Fear the Walking Dead' so far. Watch this space for more updates.
