LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The latest thriller on Lifetime, 'Fatal Fixer Upper,' follows the journey of a young couple whose idyllic dream home transforms into a living hell.

To understand the movie's plot, imagine finally moving into your dream home, only to have an unwelcome visitor who becomes increasingly fixated on you, further complicating matters. It's a chilling premise, and that's exactly what 'Fatal Fixer Upper' explores.

Directed by David DeCoteau, the film revolves around a young couple, Ray Williams (Philip McElroy) and Vivian Williams (Jasmine Aivaliotis), who believe they've found their dream home at last.

However, their dream quickly turns into a nightmare when Josh (Duke Van Patten), the previous owner of the property, offers to assist the couple with some repairs.

In reality, however, the cunning man is keeping a close watch on the couple, particularly Vivian. As the plot unfolds, his true intentions become clear, and they could prove to be fatal.

At first glance, the plot may appear to be a classic tale of obsession, but upon closer inspection, it's clear why this psychological thriller has earned every ounce of praise.

Cast's brilliant performances shine in 'Fixer Fatal Upper'

The film comes alive thanks to its exceptional ensemble, whose outstanding performances bring the characters to vivid life. Vivian is portrayed by Jasmine Aivaliotis, who delivers a standout performance that masterfully captures her growing anxiety and naivety

Philip McElroy brings Ryan Williams to life with a captivating performance that embodies the traditional Prince Charming archetype. Perfectly charming and always ready to rescue his wife Vivian from trouble, McElroy's Ryan exudes effortless charm in every scene he appears in.

In my opinion, Duke Van Patten deserves recognition as the film's star for his compelling acting prowess.

He excels in portraying Josh's obnoxious and creepy personality, delivering uncomfortable stares and exaggerated mannerisms that will send shivers down your spine.

Without a doubt, Van Patten's performance is captivating and impactful, appearing raw and rich on the screen.

The film presents a captivating fusion of tension, humor, and well-known thrills in a familiar setting—a move into a new home—while also adding a dash of terrifying obsession.

The concept of a dream house turning into a nightmare due to a sinister owner is clever, tapping into our fears of feeling safe and secure within our own homes

Additionally, the movie adeptly addresses themes of mental illness, stalking, and obsessiveness, making the plot intriguing and immersing viewers into Josh's complex world, which is not black and white but rather a realm of pure evil.

While the plot may follow a predictable trajectory, the movie maintains your interest with its campy appeal.

Fans of Lifetime movies will feel right at home with this film, which is packed with well-worn clichés: a cliched storyline, a cast of stereotypical characters, and a satisfactory denouement.

While it may not break new ground, it successfully offers a cozy and reliable retreat, just as you would expect from a Lifetime film.
