'Fast & Furious Spy Racers' Review: Season 6 sees Tony and his 'family' in action
If there is anything that you can almost always expect from the 'Fast & Furious' franchise, it would have to be over the top action, car chases, and the whole 'found family' troupe. After all, the latter is the foundation the entire franchise is built on. 'Fast & Furious Spy Racers' series is no different when it comes to these themes, with Season 6 reinforcing the importance of having family and how they will always have your back.

With the gang believing that they have finally captured Dann, they soon realise that the cyborg managed to trigger the more basic version of her own AI and is now more hell-bent than ever to destroy all of LA. Season 6 packs in action -- from cyborg fights, the oil rig explosions, to blowing up subways and, of course, the all-important car chases. Apart from this, each of the characters does seem to go through their moment of weakness, with Tony (Tyler Posey) worried about if he is truly a good leader while Echo (Charlet Chung) wonders if her skills as a spy are enough to keep the rest of the team safe.
These moments of doubt are dispelled when the team comes together to save the world. And for Tony, it certainly helps that he gets the approval of the one and only, Dom Toretto. It would have been fun to see Dom have an action scene or two of his own, as he and Tony take on Dann in the final fight. However, seeing that it is Tony's story, Dom's character doesn't seem to do much other than assist his cousin.
The troupe of characters finding themselves continues to run through the season, with Layla (Camille Ramsey ) being the last of the lot to admit just how much the team means to her. When she makes a jab about going her way, they all suggest that she's probably going to leave, which causes a usually cocky Layla to emotionally declare that she never wants to be on her own or go back to her old life. The gang is joking about sending her away, and its hugs all across the board, as the series reinforces that family isn't just blood. 'Fast & Furious Spy Racers' doesn't pretend to be anything it's not, cashing in on all the themes that made the franchise what it is today.
'Fast & Furious Spy Racers' Season 6 premieres on December 17, 2021, on Netflix
