NEW DELHI, INDIA: Sumit's family rejected him after he announced his marriage to Jenny, who is 30 years older than him. Jenny's daughter, who is visiting her mother in India, had some tough questions about her mother's new husband.

Sumit Singh wants to keep his family issues private. In November 14 episode of '90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?', Sumit hosted his wife Jenny Slatten's daughter, Christina, for the first time. However, he wasn't delighted with her thoughts of his family. During Christina's visit, it inevitably came out that Sumit's parents had shunned him for marrying Jenny, a woman 30 years his senior. Sumit first mentioned that his family is dissatisfied with his marriage. "They are not as comfortable as before when we were living together without marriage," he explained.

Christina posed a challenging question: "Do you think his mom will ever accept you?" Jenny said she did not anticipate that day. "No. She is set in her ways, dammit," she replied. She imitated her estranged mother-in-law and said: "'This is the culture. This is India. And I see it no other way. I'm not accepting this. I will never accept this, and Jenny needs to go back to America.'"

Sumit and Jenny revealed another unexpected fact to Jenny's daughter: they believe Sumit's family would welcome him back eventually, but not Jenny. "You know, my mom is out here by herself, so I do want her to feel accepted, and the only way that she can really do that is by you [Sumit] 100 percent holding her up — as opposed to just letting it happen and saying 'Oh, that's just the family. That's how they are and that's what they do,'" Christina stated. She continued, "It's not right. It's disrespectful."

Jenny agreed that merely having Sumit in India is challenging. She had already begun to propose that they go to America, and Christina had agreed to that proposal in a subsequent interview. "At this point, it should be, 'If you don't like my relationship and you don't want my wife a part of it, then I can't be a part of the family. This is my wife, this is who I love, and if you can't accept it, then you don't accept me,'" she spoke on Sumit's behalf.

However, for Sumit, the debate highlighted the cultural contrasts between the two parties. Furthermore, he believed Christina should mind her own business. "In India, we pay more attention toward the parents," he said. "The family is a complete family as a unit. So, until Christina is in my situation, she cannot understand what I'm dealing with, and she needs to stay out of the situation."

Seeing Sumit wanting Jenny's daughter to stay out of his marriage, a fan wrote, "Yo, Sumit - Jenny's daughter is ALSO a member of the family unit and has every right to voice her concern just as your idiot mother has done for the last few years." Another fan added, "Did sumit just say that Jenny’s daughter needs to stay out of the relationship when his family has been terrorizing Jenny for YEARS!?!?! Did i hear that right????" One fan further slammed for not considering Christina his family, "Sumit: “Family is unit. So until Christina understands it, she should stay out of it” Umm, isn’t she your family too now?!" Another fan criticized him adding, "Sumit doesn't have the balls to stand up to his family, but he feels okay to tell Jenny family to mind their own business!"

While defending Jenny, another fan reminded Sumit, "Funny how Sumit wants Jennys daughter to stay out of their situation. What exactly is his family doing then? His family can be involved, but not Jennys? Cuz his family is a family unit? Jenny doesn't have a unit?" While another fan came to Sumit's rescue claiming, "Don't just guilt trip Sumit. He married her! Jenny knew his parent's were against the marriage so she is partly to blame." One fan defended Christina as they write, "Nah Sumit you just don’t want Christina to burst your bubble! She doesn’t have to be in your situation to understand it." Another fan quipped, "Jenny’s daughter does a great Sumit impression!"
