'Bachelor in Paradise' Season 8: Fans say Shanae is 'gaslighting' Logan and making him think it's his fault

VALLARTA, MEXICO: It's Week 3 of 'Bachelor in Paradise' and women are departing the island by the dozens, single men are desperately looking for love, and married alums Jared and Ashley are having the time of their lives. But one man who has been the talk of the town this year with his two back-to-back ABC appearances is Logan Palmer.

Logan's infatuation with Shanae Ankney on 'Bachelor in Paradise' has sparked controversy. Many people were disappointed that Shanae was brought back for additional screen time, despite her disrespectful conduct on 'The Bachelor' Season 26. Shanae attracted numerous criticism and ruffled the feathers of several other ladies in the house after criticizing Elizabeth Corrigan's ADHD. Shanae announced on 'Bachelor in Paradise' that she has improved and Logan stated that he saw more sides to Shanae.

Logan could relate to Shanae because he, too, felt like an outsider on 'The Bachelorette' Season 19 when he shifted from chasing Rachel Recchia to pursuing Gabby Windey. Logan appears to be aware of the negative consequences of his attachment to Shanae, even commending her as someone who speaks her mind regardless of the consequences.

During the initial episodes of 'Bachelor in Paradise,' viewers saw her get along with Logan, another scene-maker. They've been adorable and having a great time together, but many fans are wondering if they're in it for the long haul. While they appeared to be close, their relationship is put to the test when James Bonsall arrives at the beach and invites her on a date.

In the October 10 episode, many worry if James and Shanae will ever return after their double date with Aaron and Genevieve. Logan was especially worried because the women were handing out roses this week. The next morning, as Shanae is debating between James and Logan, Genevieve huffs off to commiserate with her! Genevieve's former mortal foe. They discuss how boys are stupid, and Shanae heartily supports Genevieve's choice to push Justin out. She's still unsure what to do with her own love triangle, and she's "annoyed" with Logan for not providing her with "assurance" that he's still interested in her.

"I don't know if Logan knows what he wants," she replies. "James says he's all in [after] one afternoon." Cut to Shanae arguing with Logan.

Logan reminds Shanae that she has yet to tell him about her rendezvous with James. "You went on the date," he remarks. "You are the one who kind of has the options to weigh and decisions to make. You have things to feel out and decide on." Shanae responds with, Sure, but it's your responsibility to say, "I missed you when you were gone." Logan responds with an OK, alright, I still like you, but it appears like you're really onto James now. Shanae, irritated, states that they are "going in circles" and walks away.

"I'm afraid I ruined everything," Logan sighs.

Making fun of how their conversation went, a fan wrote: "Shanae, who got back from her date in the middle of the night: why aren’t you fighting for me?! Logan, still wiping the sleep from his eyes: ….huh?" Wondering if Shanae is gaslighting Logan at this point, a fan wrote: "I feel Genevieve & Shanae are gaslighting Justin & Logan to make them think its their fault for the position they are in to make them feel less guilty & have a easier transition to the other guy." Looking the way Shanae was with Logan on Tuesday's episode, it reminded many viewers her time on earlier seasons of 'The Bachelor' which were indeed not the best moments for her: "Old Shanae startin to come out in the Logan chat." Some fans also came to Logan's defense and slammed Shanae for acting like a victim: "poor Logan wtf. why is shanae acting like the victim when she admitted to liking james more? Logan didn’t do anything wrong."

On the other hand, some fans were disappointed in Logan for not acknowledging his relationship with Shanae: "Logan was talking in circles weird why are you talking about date shanae went on instead of your own personal relationship with her." Looking it as one of the earlier Logan traits, one fan wrote: "Rachel and Gabby knew exactly who Logan really was. Shanae just found out why." Further questioning if Logan is really into Shanae, a fan tweeted: "Yes Shanae, just leave Logan. He's clearly not sure. LOL He is telling the camera how he feels but not to her. Don't tell us, tell her. Clock is ticking, lol so gotta make that move quick." While some viewers also feel Shanae is putting up a fight with Logan just so she can pursue a relationship with James: "Genevieve and Shanae literally found any which way to cop out because they like Aaron and James more than Logan and Justin. But I mean???? Just say that? Don’t say these guys weren’t making you feel 'wanted' 'seen' or 'pursued'."

Season 8 of 'Bachelor in Paradise' airs Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 pm to 10 pm ET.
