LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a post-apocalyptic, retrofuturistic world, depicted in Prime Video's 'Fallout', we are introduced to The Ghoul (Walton Goggins), a survivor severely mutated by the residual irradiation, who is transformed into a zombie-like appearance while gaining extended lifespan.
The series also introduces us to Maximus (Aaron Moten), a young member of the Brotherhood of Steel.
While the pilot episode gave a brief into his character, he garners further spotlight in Episode 2 as he puts up a brutal fight against The Ghoul.
If the Prime Video series has engrossed you with its atypical world, here's everything you need to know about Maximus before you proceed to watch further episodes.
Here's what we know about Maximus in Prime Video's 'Fallout'
'Fallout' Episode 1 introduces Maximus as a wannabe soldier, who is desperate to gain a rank in Brotherhood of Steel. A tiny flashback suggests that he grew up on the surface but in a very enclosed community of survivors.
Ever since childhood, Maximus has been lured by the power and strength of the power armour-clad knights of the Brotherhood, which inspired him to pursue it as he grew up.
He is highly driven by the Brotherhood's goals of bringing law and order to the wasteland for which he is ready to sacrifice his life as well.
He is raised to the rank of squire and is sent by the Brotherhood on a solo mission in 'Fallout' Episode 2, where he has to capture a target.
Why does Maximus attack The Ghoul in 'Fallout' Episode 2?
During his solo mission, he arrives in a small town and finds violence erupting between The Ghoul and the residents of Wasteland. Maximus witnesses Lucy MacLean's (Ella Purnell) intervention against The Ghoul, who retaliates by firing at her.
In a sense of urgency, Maximus steps up to save Lucy. This leads to an intense face-off between The Ghoul and Maximus.
Meanwhile, Maximus realizes that The Ghoul is pursuing Wilzig, who happens to be Maximus' target as well. In a twist of events, Maximus is defeated when The Ghoul causes his power armor to malfunction, resulting in Maximus losing control.
However, the battle between them isn't over yet and is likely to be pursued in the next episodes.
The race of Ghoul shares an enmity with the Brotherhood, with both parties equally formidable. It would be interesting to see how Maximus regains his strength to stop Ghoul.
'Fallout' is now streaming on Prime Video.
