150 ex-national security officials warn Joe Biden transition delay is a 'serious risk', Internet says 'bulls**t'
A letter that was signed by 150 former national security officials has warned that a delay in the transition to President-elect Joe Biden poses a 'serious risk' to national security and the country. The letter had been obtained by Politico and had been released to the General Services Administration on Thursday, November 12. The former officials insisted that the need for Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris to be officially named as the President-elect and Vice President-elect was of the utmost importance under the Presidential Transition Act.
The letter had been directed to the GSA administrator Emily Murphy and reads, "We reiterate what a bipartisan group of four former Secretaries of Homeland Security have already stated: delaying the transition further poses a serious risk to our national security." The letter was almost one-and-a-half pages long and the rest of the document had been filled with various names including former title descriptions. Many of the former officials had served under POTUS Donald Trump as well as other GOP and Democratic administrations.
The letter explains that Biden and Harris need the GSA to officially declare them as the "apparent successful candidates" of the 2020 presidential election in order to gain access to important and required resources. When the two are announced as the official President-elect and Vice President-elect, they will be privy to obtain "critical information needed to address pressing national security issues".
An example of such information is "the President’s Daily Briefing and pending decisions on possible uses of military force." The letter to Murphy had concluded with "Further, it must be noted that your ascertainment that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the 'apparent successful candidates' will not impact President Trump's ability to pursue any valid legal claims or his efforts to contest the results of the presidential election."
"In this moment of uncertainty, we must put politics aside. Further delaying the Biden team's ability to access the President's Daily Briefing and other national security information and resources compromises the continuity and readiness of our national leadership, with immense national security stakes hanging in the balance."

The letter comes as POTUS Donald Trump has not conceded defeat to his rival, Joe Biden. We had earlier reported that President Donald Trump and his staunch loyalists have been screaming that the 2020 presidential election has been rigged and the victory claimed by the Joe Biden camp is not fair. But they are yet to produce hard evidence to back their claims.
