'Evil' Episode 5 teases a disturbing look at Brenda's identity and fans have some thoughts on who the spooky child could be

From dragging the kids out to a graveyard to mysteriously disappearing on them after scaring them with pretty lifelike stories of hauntings, Brenda seems a lot like Rose.

Tonight's episode of CBS' new horror-thriller 'Evil' gifted us another disturbing little kid to be scared of.

It was Halloween on Episode 5, aptly titled 'October 31', and Kristen Bouchard's four little girls had a night of trick or treating planned with their mom. So when Kristen gets called for an urgent psychiatric evaluation of a patient about to undergo an exorcism, she calls her mother Shirley to babysit her kids who have other friends coming over. One of those friends happened to be a little girl called Brenda, who arrives at the party with a mask on and refuses to take it off for the entirety of her stay at the Bouchard's place. And if you think that's creepy, guess what her special talent is? Telling extremely twisted and realistic horror stories. Not the fact that she doesn't have an iPhone, as most millennial horror stories tend to go.

We thought that of course, after last week's extremely creepy episode centering around the little girl Rose who lived inside a virtual reality game, everybody's first and obvious guess was that Brenda is actually Rose. The way Brenda told stories about a little girl being locked in her house and burnt by her friends, and elaborately explained to the other kids how she would kill her mom and hide her body was nothing short of unsettling. What it also was, was a clear reminder of Rose, who was pretty smug at convincing the Bouchard girls that their father was dead and tricked them into summoning a demon through a virtual Ouija board.

Rose returning as Brenda seemed obvious, or so we thought. From dragging the kids out to a graveyard to mysteriously disappearing on them after scaring them with pretty lifelike stories of hauntings - Brenda seemed akin to Rose. But right at the end of the episode, as she took off her mask with her back facing the camera, something offbeat happened (yes, even by Evil's standards). Brenda began walking down a street full of trick or treaters without her mask on, and everybody who saw her face screamed out of fear. Now, we know Rose was super disturbing, but her face was scary enough to make one scream. So who is Brenda? What does she look lie? What's up with her face? How scary could it be?

The answers remain a blank but fans, who aren't scared enough already for Brenda's face reveal, have some theories. Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "I cannot wait until next week..maybe Brenda gets revealed? maybe a demon gets run out of the possessed lady?..And someone will fill in the GD hole in the basement..damn." Another fan was more focused on Brenda's eerily laugh right at the end of the episode, and shared: "Brenda's" laugh at the end was cute. Own it, ghoulfriend!"
