'Euphoria' episode 8 spoilers tease Rue facing a bitter truth while Fezco tries to beat all the odds against him

The promotional teaser for 'Euphoria' episode eight, titled 'And Salt the Earth Behind You', just came out and, to be honest, it's getting really hard to keep track of all the things that could go wrong in Rue's life. For starters, the episode trailer begins with Rue's (Zendaya) mom talking on a microphone. Rue is seated in the audience, listening intently, as her mom takes the stage at her Narcotics Anonymous meeting and talks about the day Rue was born.

Her mother mentions how she wishes she too had a narrator, and suddenly, all those fan theories about Rue actually being dead this whole time go off like alarms. What if Rue really is dead and it's her mother who keeps attending her NA meetings in memory of her daughter?

Well, let's not digress. Jules (Hunter Schafer) is back in town and out and about attending more parties with Rue. Are they back to being a couple for real? Or is this just a "special" friend arrangement that Jules spoke to her old friends about? We don't know that yet. In other areas, the episode shows Nate (Jacob Elordi), Maddy (Alexa Demie), and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), all in distress.

The most recent episode seven showed Nate calling the cops on Fezco (Angus Cloud) and getting all of his drug supplies busted. But that was after Fezco threatens to kill him if he doesn't stop harming Rue and her friends. Of course, the cops couldn't be the downfall of Fezco because he is one of the only good men on the show. So when the promo teaser for episode eight shows Nate being pinned down on the ground by a masked person, let it be known that we are here rooting for team Fezco!

As for why Maddy can be seen bawling her eyes out,  anybody's guess is as good as ours. However, looking at her trajectory on the show, we're not saying it'll have something to do with Nate, but it will have something to do with him.

Cassie will most likely be undergoing an adoption. This week was the big Cassie blowout as we meandered through her sad past and the not so bright present. Her boyfriend, McKay (Algee Smith) was actually the nicest any man has ever been to her when it came to handling the unwanted pregnancy news. But the next episode will see her in a hospital gown, expectedly undergoing the termination procedure, but she isn't the only one admitted.

Rue suffers a major relapse too. She has been spiraling ever since Jules starting distancing from her. The latest episode ended with Rue suffering a breakdown after her depression kicked in hard enough to stop her from urinating. The matter only seems to escalate in the next episode, with her sister Gia (Storm Reid) screaming, trying to convince their mom that something is very, very wrong with her. The trailer ends with Jules telling Rue that all of this happened because she left, and it's not hard to deduce the tone of meek intimidation in her voice. Maybe this is how it all culminates with Jules realizing she definitely can't be the torchbearer of Rue's sobriety.
