Eugenie Bouchard turns 29: Tennis pro celebrates birthday with twin Beatrice after 8-year long feud
MONTREAL, CANADA: Eugenie Bouchard, 29, is one of the most well-known tennis players in the world. However, the Canadian sports star's huge success also comes with a pinch of failure that cost her her bond with her twin sister Beatrice Bouchard. Although their relationship first became strained after their parents divorced, it culminated in Eugenie's success playing an equal factor.
Nevertheless, it seems the twins have finally set aside their differences and decided to work on it after the pair reunited to celebrate their birthday together for the first time in eight years on February 25, 2023. They jetted off to Tulum, Mexico, where Eugenie and Beatrice posed for a snap in front of balloons that said, "Happy birthday Bea and Genie." However, Eugenie and Beatrice's relationship strayed so far that the latter once claimed, "I know someone in the grocery store better than my twin sister."

'Not at all perfect!'
The Bouchard twins were brought up in Montreal, Canada with their parents Michel and Julie along with two other siblings, a younger sister, named Charlotte, and younger brother, named William. Eugenie and Beatrice were only 10 years old when the twins split, driving a first wedge through their relationship. "We are definitely not a simple, happy, perfect family. [We are] anything but that," Beatrice said in a 2021 interview.
"Our parents got divorced, they weren't happy with each other. Eugenie was with my mother for most of her life from then on, while myself, and our siblings Charlotte and William were with my father. So we grew up separately," Beatrice said, according to Daily Mail. She even claimed their parents split created a huge barrier in their relationship. "It's still like this today, not at all perfect. I've only seen her twice a year since we were 10 years old," she said. Beatrice added, "She is almost a stranger to me. It's very funny. I know someone in the grocery store better than my twin sister."
'Buy your ticket and come!'
Furthermore, things became even worse after Eugenie's success became a stressful point for Beatrice to come to reality with herself. Eugenie was only 11 years old when she competed in the Open Super 12 in France after which she rose to fame as a tennis pro. Beatrice said, "People come up to me [and say], 'Oh, you’re the sister! Oh hi, are you the sister of [Eugenie]? Can I take a picture with you? What’s your name? You’re the sister, right, but what’s your name?'"
She said, "So just picture that for like, 20 years. You don’t even feel like your own person. I’m just the sister." Beatrice added, "I joke about it like, 'Oh yeah, I’m the sister, Nice to meet you. I don’t have a name. I’m the sister. I’m just orbiting around my sister, I’m not my own. I’m six minutes older, I was born first. She’s my sister.'" Beatrice also claims she faced backlash for not supporting her sister during her games.
"People probably think, 'Go with your sister, she will take you everywhere.' No, my sister didn't take me anywhere," Beatrice stated. She added, "When I wanted to see her play at Wimbledon, she said, 'OK, come and see me play, buy your ticket and come.'" However, it seems like the twins are working on their relationship after they were spotted together at Coachella in April 2022.
