MOSCOW, IDAHO: Ethan Chapin, a student at the University of Idaho who was killed along with three other students, was praised for who he was by a friend on social media. The suspect in the brutal murders, 28-year-old Bryan Kohberger, has been accused of fatally stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, in their off-campus three-story rented home on November 13, 2022. Kohberger was arrested in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, on Friday, December 30.

"I grew up with Ethan, right down the road. I knew him. I loved him, and you’d never meet any family as beautiful as the Chapins. Each and every one of those triplets has led a life that I respect and admire. Ethan had the best chance out of anyone to lead a beautiful life; blossoming with opportunity. It is truly the most saddening and unexpected tragedy. He didn’t f*****g deserve it," the user wrote on Reddit

Other users teared up, with one saying, "Thank you for the beautiful post. I am so sorry for your pain. I thought Ethan had such a sweet face and looked very protective. When I heard he was a triplet, my heart really dropped. That is such an incredible bond. I can’t imagine what his parents and siblings are going through." "He sure did. His smile with his dimple just breaks my heart. All are sooo innocent," wrote one user. Another said, "He really looks like a big teddy bear. Couldn't imagine being his siblings going to the same college and just continuing to go without him."

"I agree. There are some people who are so nice they sort of shine, and Ethan does look like he was a very happy and good person. It’s so sad. Now we will never know all he could have done," one user said, while another wrote, "Ethan hits me hard. The idea that he was such a young man and probably spent his last moments stepping up as a real man should to defend the young women just breaks my heart. I had a lot of young men around me in college that I am still friends with today who watched my back and it's awful to think of any of them having lost their lives back then and never had a chance to live to 40 like we have. Ethan died young but with real honor." "Looking at pictures of Ethan hits me the hardest. Maybe it’s because I have a brother, but he just looks so sweet and innocent. So freaking sad," one user said.

The weapon used to stab the students to death is believed to be a fixed-blade Ka-Bar-style knife. Kohberger was arrested more than 2,000 miles away from where the murders took place and agreed to be extradited to Idaho from Pennsylvania. His lawyer reportedly said that he was shocked after being arrested and was reportedly planning to deny the murders. Kohberger, a PhD student in Washington State University’s Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, was reportedly charged with four counts of murder in the first degree as well as felony burglary in connection with the deaths of the four students.
