MOSCOW, IDAHO: Ethan Chapin, a member of Sigma Chi who died on November 13 along with three other University of Idaho students was remembered with a scholarship that was announced on November 29. One undergraduate member of the fraternity will receive funding from the Ethan Chapin Memorial Scholarship Fund every year in remembrance of the slain victim, reported Fox News.
Chapin was a freshman at the University of Idaho and a member of the Sigma Chi community. "We join the Gamma Eta Chapter in remembering a young man who was deeply loved and respected, as well as extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of Ethan, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen," the Sigma Chi Foundation said in a statement. Approximately $57,000 of the $75,000 target has been raised for the Ethan Chapin Memorial Scholarship Fund. A few blocks away from the Sigma Chi house, Chapin, 20, and his girlfriend Kernodle were spending the night at an off-campus apartment. Chapin, Kernodle, Goncalves, and Mogen were fatally stabbed on November 13 between the hours of 3 and 4 am, according to the police. The killer has yet not been identified or caught by the Moscow Police Department.

After the revelation of a new string of evidence, the description of the murder weapon was deemed to be a knife. The autopsy report revealed that the wounds on the victims' bodies showed signs of intense stabbings that can come only from a sharp object. Moscow police have already dismissed a number of suspects related to the case and are open to considering new theories that may shed some light on the details of the mass murders. Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have been organizing cremation services as they mourn the terrific loss of losing a loved one. The case is reportedly being investigated by a team of multiple departments including the FBI.
A memorial service was held last week in Chapin's native Mount Vernon, Washington, in honor of the triplet, whose two siblings are both students at the University of Idaho. "Today, we're here to honor the life and legacy of our son and brother, Ethan Chapin — one of the most incredible people you will ever know," Stacy Chapin told Fox News outside the service last week. "Together, we want to extend gratitude to the following: our neighbors… our extended family and friends who serve as of beacons of strength and remain by our side throughout every moment, the Moscow Police Department who now carry the burden every day not only for us but for all of the impacted families."
