Erika Costell who along with Tana Mongeau said 'we don't f**king care' after partying without masks apologizes

YouTuber Erika Costell has taken to social media to apologize after she received a backlash from her followers for attending a party amid a pandemic. Costell shared a now-deleted Instagram Story on Saturday, July 25, where she is seen hanging out at a house party with fellow Internet personality and friend Tana Mongeau. After the two looked at the camera and said, "Listen, we don't f**king care. Sorry," their comment did not sit well with many followers, considering they were out at a large gathering without masks during the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Costell, the criticism they received was taken out of context and their comment was a response to their previously alleged beef. "Hey guys - I just want to apologize for the video that was posted last night on Tanas Instagram story," the 27-year-old 'Conscience' singer began her statement on Twitter. "The comment we made was NOT intended as it was perceived. Saying 'we don't care' was about our previous 'beef'. It was in no way related to the COVID-19 pandemic we are in," she explained. "However I understand that this came off offensive during this time. It was insensitive, careless, and stupid for me to even be at a party during this pandemic," she added, before concluding with, "I am truly sorry to anyone I let down or upset in any way & I fully take accountability for my actions. Xx."
While some many users on Twitter haven't been quite as accepting as her fans, comments have continued to call them out. "I'm just tired of people with a huge platform behaving like this and getting away with it all the time, it's infuriating when you think of all the lifes taken by this virus and irresponsible people and all the ones at risk. Karma, do your thing," said a user while another wrote, "It’s a worldwide pandemic!! You shouldn’t be going to parties anyway!!! This is why cases are rising and more people are dying!!! We will have another lockdown bc of actions like this."
Costell's own fans have been supportive after her apology, saying, "Thank you for always owning up to your mistakes. We know you’re heart and know you never ever mean any harm. Also very proud of you as always. Love you girl and like I said I’m always gonna have your back," and "some people in this comment section are freaking wild, she literally explained the situation and apologized for being out during a pandemic, i really don’t know what else y’all want from her so stop hating man, we’re all human we all make mistakes. geez."
