CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: 'Emperor of Ocean Park' continues to deepen the mystery around Judge Oliver Garland's (Forest Whitaker) death.
In the debut episode, Mariah Garland (Tiffany Mack) begins to suspect that her father’s death might not have been due to natural causes.
When she confided in her brother, Talcott Garland (Grantham Coleman), he dismissed her concerns as a conspiracy theory.
In Episode 2, Mariah's suspicions deepen, and Talcott finds himself in a situation where he starts to acknowledge that his sister might be right after all.
What happens in 'Emperor of Ocean Park' Episode 2?
Episode 2 of 'Emperor of Ocean Park' returns with another flashback from 2007, when Judge Garland was nominated for the Supreme Court Justice position.
However, his association with CIA agent-turned-criminal Jack Ziegler (Torrey Hanson) jeopardized his credibility.
When Gred Haramoto testifies that he saw Judge Garland meeting Jack at his courthouse, the Judge is compelled to take the stand again, clarifying that his relationship with Jack is simply a longstanding friendship from their college days.
However, the panel seems unconvinced and eventually, the Judge not only withdraws his nomination but also resigns from his position at the US Court of Appeal.
In the present timeline, Talcott discovers that a scrapbook and several pieces from his father's chess set have mysteriously vanished.
His search is interrupted by the arrival of Agents McDermott and Foreman, who aggressively question him about Jack’s associate, Lisa.
The episode also witnesses another death. Father Freeman Brown, who had a long-term association with the Garland family is found dead.
The homicide detective informs Mariah that Brown was tortured to death, leading her to believe that the murder is connected to her father’s death and suspect the involvement of Jack.
By the end of the episode, Uncle Mal tells Talcott that the FBI has no records of the agents who visited him and questioned about Lisa.
While the suspicion around these men lingers, another event startles him. Someone has dropped one of the missing pawns on his podium at the university, hinting that something suspicious is brewing.
