Emily Ratajkowski mom-shamed over 'awkward' snap with baby son: 'Support the neck'

Piers Morgan told Emily Ratajkowski, 'Happy to give you some tips if you need them,' in a tweet criticizing how she held her 3-month-old son

Emily Ratajkowski faced backlash over how she held her baby after she shared a picture of herself and her three-month-old son on Instagram. The series of snaps of mother and baby on her social media page has invited criticism because she did not adequately support the baby in her arms, especially the neck. Some people even suggested that she was holding her like he was an "accessory." 

The two of them were seen wearing matching beach outfits. Ratajkowski is in a bikini and the baby in shorts from her Inamorata line. It was by the end of the series that she finally decided to support the baby properly, cuddling him. Until then though, he can be seen hanging, awkwardly held with one arm. The baby looks like he is uncomfortable being held like that by his mother Ratajkowski.

Even though Ratajkowski eventually turned off the comments section on the Instagram post, people shared the picture on Twitter to discuss how Ratajkowski held her child. Many also guessed that she might have a baby line in the works, considering how she dressed her son in clothes matching her bikini. It must be noted that while the first picture looks like her son's head is lobbed on one side, the following pictures show her adjusting her hold on her child and bringing him a bit closer to cuddle.

In a protected tweet, @melissamichelle shared a side-by-side comparison picture of Ratajkowski with her son and one with her dog where she is holding them both similarly. In response to this tweet, many also replied about how she was not supporting her son's neck. There were also memes about this in response to the tweet. 

Not only people on Twitter, but Piers Morgan also picked up his row with Ratajkowski again. He criticized her for how she held her baby and said in a tweet, "That’s not how you hold a baby @emrata - and your millions of followers shouldn’t be encouraged to do the same. Happy to give you some tips if you need them." However, Morgan's tweet invited backlash in itself. 

One user responded, "Imagine mansplaining to a new mother how she should hold the child that came out of her. He’s tagged her to get a reaction to amplify his ailing profile. Not long now till he’s doing 118 adverts..."

He then responded, "If she chooses to use her baby as a prop to promote yourself to 27 million people on Instagram, and she’s holding that baby in a dangerous way, it’s actually the duty of any caring human being to tell her so the baby comes to no harm." While supporters of the model attempt to explain how she did correct her hold on the baby by the last picture in the series, one user asked, "Now that’s much better! But why publish the other photos on IG at all?"

Another user said, "If you look at the sequence of pics she posted, she was more into posing - forgetting the baby - as she quickly catches him. So
@piersmorgan is correct! I thought the same …"

Another user wrote, "As a mum of 2, I actually support Piers here (whatever his agenda, not interested). I worry about the fashion of carrying babies round with no support if the mum/dad were to fall. Surely it’s just common sense. The babies head doesn’t look supported & looks like it needs to be."
