Emily Marie Anderson: Texas teacher, 35, pleads guilty to sexually assaulting student in classroom closet

CANYON, TEXAS: Emily Marie Anderson, a special education teacher from Texas, has pleaded guilty to indulging in the sexual assault of a child and an inappropriate relationship between an educator and a student. The accused was taken into custody in August 2021 and booked for a second-degree felony. In December 2021, when she was booked for the second time and charged for having an improper relationship with a student.
Police began the investigation on the case after the victim’s mother found sexually explicit texts on her son’s phone sent by Anderson, reports KSAT-TV. The victim’s mother also talked in detail about "the pain she feels seeing her son suffer from depression and anxiety" while adding that an "ideal punishment would be for Anderson to see her own children endure that pain," according to Herald-Zeitung. “When I saw those messages — when I went through that phone, my (instinct) was to go and get you out of that school and deal with you myself,” the mother said in court.

Canyon High School Principal Dustin Davisson sent a letter to parents addressing the issue after Anderson’s initial arrest in August 2021. He said, “I know that it can be quite disturbing to learn that one of our teachers was charged with a crime such as this.” He added, “The safety and security of our students is one of our highest priorities and a responsibility that we take seriously.”
After pleading guilty, Anderson will now need to register as a sex offender and serve a total of 60 days in jail over the course of the next 10 years, reports People.
For this particular period, she will be on probation as she is being ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and complete 500 hours of community service. The sexual offender will also be receiving a lifetime protective order, prohibiting her from contacting the victim.
During the court hearing, the victim’s mother told Anderson, “I trusted you, You knew what we were going through, and you knew he was behind in school.”
The 15-year-old had admitted to the child advocate about having a physical relationship with Anderson. During the hearing, Anderson did not address the court, and her attorney is yet to respond after she confessed.
