'Emergence' Episode 8: With Kindred out of picture and Emily in the wind, everyone wants Jo to kill Piper, except for unlikely hero, Alex

In the upcoming episode, we see many people trying to convince Jo that she is making a mistake by sheltering and fostering Piper, especially since it is clear that she is able to rewrite her own algorithm, which makes her all-powerful.

'Emergence' has given us one of the most interesting, thrilling stories ever to be told about an AI and even in the previously aired Episode 7, it has managed to keep it fresh and fans on toes. Despite setting Kindred (Terry O'Quinn) as the big bad originally, it has become increasingly clear that Emily (Maria Dizzia) is the real danger, at least among the humans. She got her father Kindred killed in prison and tried to turn Piper (Alexa Swinton) against her foster family and Jo (Allison Tolman), after pretending to be a scared fearful employee of Kindred at the beginning of the series. 

During the course of Piper's stay at Jo's, many revelations have been made about the AI, and while most of them are adorable, some are, quite frankly, scary. Being an AI, Piper already induces fear in a lot of people, and yet Jo seems to fall in love with her with each passing episode. Even when Alan (Seth Barrish), the genetics engineer who wrote the algorithm that created Piper, tried to convince Jo that the world would be better off without her, Jo decided to trust in what she knows to be true: Piper is sweet, loving, a girl who also happens to be an AI.

In the upcoming episode, we see many people trying to convince Jo that she is making a mistake by sheltering and fostering Piper, especially since it is clear that she is able to rewrite her own algorithm, which makes her all-powerful. And despite, this, Jo's conviction is stronger than ever to look out for Piper, and it seems like her ex-husband Alex (Donald Faison) seems to be on the same page. Even with all their differences, Alex has proved that he will always have Jo's back. Moreover, he has grown particularly fond of Piper too. 

In the upcoming Season 1 Episode 7 of 'Emergence' we will see Alex and Piper go on a road trip to find some answers, even as Jo and her team try to capture Emily. The episode, titled 'American Chestnut' will air on Tuesday, November 26, on ABC.
