'Emergence' Episode 8: Emily tries to 'fix' Piper so that she loves her, but will that see her turn against Jo and family?
‘Emergence’ has taken a huge turn for the unexpected, especially with Emily (Maria Dizzia) turning out to be the real mastermind behind Piper (Alexa Swinton), even tricking her into thinking that a virtual Richard Kindred (Terry O'Quinn) is communicating with her in an alternate dimension, when it was really Emily who was testing her. From the trailer for the upcoming Season 1 Episode 7 of the ABC show, it is clear that Emily created Piper for herself, and is now disappointed that her "daughter" doesn't love her, and she is trying to get it fixed.
The trailer for the upcoming episode, titled 'Fatal Exception', it is clear that the fast-paced storytelling of 'Emergence' is continuing and that Emily is trying to make Piper believe that she is her "real mother", which Piper does not immediately accept. We have seen just attached she has grown to Jo (Allison Tolman) and she even went on to reveal the same to Emily/Kindred in the previously aired 'Mile Marker 14'. Piper told her that to her, Jo feels like home.
However, it seems like Emily has already started having a hold on Piper, possibly having "fixed" her, in order to make her love her. It remains to be seen just how far-reaching this hold is, but it does not look good for Jo and especially Benny (Owain Yeoman). In the trailer for 'Fatal Exception', we see Emily trying to take Piper away, and Benny trying to stop her, at which point Emily tells Piper that Benny is hurting her. Piper's superpowers start acting up, and we have a feeling she might hurt someone before she can be stopped.
We know that everyone in Jo's family is upset with her for hiding Piper's secret from them but all of them still have a soft spot for Piper - or at least we hope they do. They will come together to save her, be it from Emily or Kindred. When Season 1 Episode 7 of 'Emergence' titled 'Fatal Exception' airs on Tuesday, November 18 on ABC we sure hope Jo's family decides to protect Piper and save her from Emily's evil plans.
