'Emergence' Episode 4: Piper's intentions remain unclear while Benny and April's lives hang by the thread

Our hopes are high but we still wouldn't breathe easy until ABC airs Season 1 Episode 5 of 'Emergence' on Tuesday, October 22, and prove that Benny and April are fine

'Emergence' episode four ended on three major cliffhangers that have us already impatient for the new episode. As we saw in 'No Outlet', Jo (Allison Tolman) had a full-circle moment with Piper (Alexa Swinton).

Going from the desire to protect her to the need to fear and destroy her, Jo comes back to compassion and love for her. However, in the last scene featuring Piper in the series, we saw that she is being sneaky about something.

Is it an innocent moment of happiness at Jo's renewed trust in her, or is it a sinister satisfaction of having manipulated her needs to be seen?

The two other storylines this episode were that of Emily (Maria Dizzia) and Chris (Robert Bailey Jr.), and Benny (Owain Yeoman ) and April (Ashlie Atkinson).

While Chris and Emily had a rocky start and found it difficult to understand each other, it seems like they found some common ground by the end of the episode.

However, while Chris was trying to keep her off the grid, Emily managed to make a few adjustments to the electronics in her safe house and create a communication device which she thought was not working.

As they walked out to find trout, we see that a phone attached to the thingamajig starts ringing. While Emily and Chris are unaware of this, their lives seem to be in danger.

We would not put it past Kindred (Terry O'Quinn) to go after them in the woods and try to kill them. We certainly are worried about the status of their lives.

The lives that we are more immediately concerned about are that of Benny and April though, who were met with a shower of bullets at the end of 'No Outlet'.

This happened mere moments after they had a conversation about how the data that Kindred is trying to hide so hard may be capable of changing the world.

It seemed like Benny moved the car just at the nick of time, but they may both be injured still. Our hopes are high but we still wouldn't breathe easy until ABC airs Episode 5 of 'Emergence' on Tuesday, October 22, and prove that Benny and April are fine.
