BOCA CHICA,TEXAS: While most Middle-earth fans are ecstatic about the return to Tolkien’s world, Elon Musk has decided to dish out the reason why he is not a fan of 'The Rings of Power'.

Elon Musk criticized the billion-dollar fantasy series The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, tweeting that the late author JRR Tolkien is “turning in his grave” about the treatment of his book lore. But Musk's disapproval aside, the new show has been a huge success for Amazon Prime Video with the premiere episode rocketing to the top of the streaming charts.

However, Musk clarified exactly why he felt that the original author of 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' would be unhappy with this latest adaptation. He tweeted that “almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both,” adding that “only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice.” Galadriel, played by Welsh actress Morfydd Clark, is a warrior elf and the lead of the series that is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Musk is currently tangled in a legal mess while trying to exit his proposed $44 billion takeover of Twitter. But he still had the time to troll Amazon founder and Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos. The two have been in competition with each other for years.  Also noteworthy is that the long-running feud and rivalry intensified after Jeff Bezos launched Blue Origin, a direct rival to Musk’s SpaceX. The enmity between the world’s two richest people has seen the Tesla CEO habitually troll or shitpost against Bezos and his companies or products.

Thus far, 'The Rings of Power' has been a huge success for Amazon, scoring 25 million viewers for the first two episodes, Prime Video’s top premiere ever. Critics have also reacted positively, with the show boasting a 84 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and 71 percent on Metacritic. Audience scores, on the other hand, have been poor, which has led to allegations of review bombing. Musk echoes much of the criticisms levelled against the show by online trolls who have taken issue with show centering the tale around Galadriel.

Some Twitter users replied with characters they felt Musk was overlooking in this comment. For instance, Elrond and Arondir have a lot of screen time and fans said their characters disproves the statement that all the male characters of the show were “a coward, a jerk or both.”

It’s also worth noting that the show has only aired two episodes, so it’s too soon to judge. Many of the characters haven’t had enough time on-screen to become fully-fleshed out personalities.
Regardless, it seems that Elon Musk is trolling 'The Rings of Power'. Whether he genuinely hates it or is just taking a swipe at Bezos is anyone's guess.
