Hunt on for LA 'actress' behind Elon Musk sex allegations as Internet channels its inner Pinkerton
Elon Musk superfans are on the hunt for the source of a sexual assault allegation against him that he says has been conjured by "a far-left activist/actress in LA with a major political ax to grind."
The Tesla CEO, who is in the process of buying Twitter for $44 billion, blasted claims made in a Business Insider article published on Thursday, May 19, that he paid $250,000 in severance to a SpaceX worker who accused him of exposing himself to her. Musk was accused of offering to buy a horse for the SpaceX flight attendant if she would perform a sexual act on him. The allegations were reportedly made by a "friend" of the alleged employee.

The world's richest man branded the "wild allegations" against him as "utterly untrue." Just hours after the Insider piece was published, Musk responded to Cucumber Capital CEO Tara Bull who tweeted, "Where were these wild accusations against @elonmusk before he took a stand against the establishment?"

"Exactly," Musk replied, adding that the "wild accusations" were "utterly untrue."
The tycoon then called out the friend of the alleged flight attendant who made the claims to Insider. "But I have a challenge to this liar who claims their friend saw me 'exposed' — describe just one thing, anything at all (scars, tattoos, …) that isn't known by the public. She won't be able to do so, because it never happened," Musk tweeted.

"It’s strange how their friend is the one who came forward years after it supposedly happened while claiming they can’t stay silent. It’s a story based on hearsay. “My friend said” No proof," CleanTechnica author Johnna Crider responded.
"Exactly. Moreover, the “friend” in question who gave the interview to BI, is a far-left activist/actress in LA with a major political ax to grind," Musk added.

One Twitter user asked Musk if he "actually" responded to reporters from Business Insider, to which he replied, "No, it was clear that their only goal was a hit price to interfere with the Twitter acquisition. The story was written before they even talked to me."

Musk noted how this was the first allegation of sexual misconduct against him and questioned its timing, especially after he recently revealed he would now be voting Republican despite having always voted for Democrats. "If I were inclined to engage in sexual harassment, this is unlikely to be the first time in my entire 30-year career that it comes to light," he said, adding that there's a "lot more to this story" which he called a "politically motivated hit piece."
Sleuths continued to speculate the identity and motivation of those behind the allegations. "These allegations are from 2018, just happens to be the same year the SEC was coming after @elonmusk," Bull wrote.
"What are the odds of this being a coincidence?" Crider added.
Entrepreneur David Gokshtein alleged that Insider had run a similar smear campaign against Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy and told Musk to connect with him. "Hey, @stoolpresidente — I think this sounds similar to what they tried to do to you, no? @elonmusk - you should def link up with @stoolpresidente," the Gokshtein Media founder tweeted.
"It’s hard for me to determine the truth if I don’t know who’s making the allegations. Is there a name available anywhere folks?" another Twitter user wondered.

On a lighter note amid the assault allegations, Musk has also since joked about the scandal, tweeting that he "finally" got to use "Elongate as a scandal name." The billionaire quote retweeted a 2021 tweet in which he said, "If there's ever a scandal about me, please call it Elongate" and commented, "Finally, we get to use Elongate as scandal name. It's kinda perfect."
