Ellen DeGeneres compares old photo with mullet to 'Tiger King's' Joe Exotic: 'Who wore it better?'
Netflix's new documentary 'Tiger King' has thrust the character of Joe Exotic aka Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage into the spotlight.
While the world is under a blanket lockdown with very little to do at home, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is also entertaining herself with new documentaries amid the pandemic. The host took to her social media to share a throwback picture of herself with a mullet while comparing herself to Joe.
She had captioned the image, "Who wore it better?" Ellen's picture dates back to 1987 and was taken during an appearance on 'The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Carson'. Joe Exotic, on the other hand, was seen in his Santa Rosa County jail mugshot.
Ellen's fans and followers were delighted with the comparison and took to commenting on the same. One such user shared, "Gotta give it to Joe, Ellen," with a laughing emoji. Another commented saying, "LMAO! Thank you Ellen for always making me laugh."
While a third amused fan added, "I would have to go with the king on this one." A fourth excited fan commented, "Awww you are so cute! Love the hair Ellen ."
The seven-part documentary looks at the shady world of Joe Exotic, 57, who had made a small fortune from his controversial private zoo. He then lost everything to jealous feuds, fires, and failed political campaigns. He is currently in prison in Oklahoma where he is serving a 22-year-sentence for plotting to murder his nemesis, Carole Baskin.
Joe had hired a hitman to kill Baskin who is an animal rights activist. It was reported that last week he was transferred to a federal facility in Texas. Baskin's former husband Jack Donald 'Don' Lewis went missing in 1997 and was declared dead though his body was never found.
Joe believes that Baskin had killed Lewis though she has always insisted that she is innocent and had nothing to do with Lewis' disappearance.
We had previously reported that Joe Exotic contracted coronavirus while in prison. His fourth husband Dillon Passage, 24, recently shared that he was worried that Joe would catch the virus as it was prevalent in prison.
As per reports, he had tested positive for coronavirus and was transferred to the prison medical center. Records show that as of April 2, Joe is at the Federal Bureau of Prisons-operated Federal Medical Center Forth Worth in Texas, New York Post revealed.
While speaking to Andy Cohen on his radio show, Dillon shared, "We speak like three to five times every day, but since he’s been moved to this new facility, they are putting him COVID-19 isolation because of the previous jail he was at, there were cases."
"I’ve yet to speak to him since he moved," he added. He then confirmed that Joe 'is in his own COVID-19 quarantine'. "From what I know, yes. From what he told me," he shared. He also spoke about his relationship with Joe and said, "I do love Joe. He’s been with my through my darkest times, and I’m not going to just dip out and abandon him when he needs me most."
Joe had made headlines when his documentary released on Netflix.
