Where does Ella Emhoff go to school? Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter makes runway debut at New York Fashion Week
Vice President Kamala Harris' stepdaughter Ella Emhoff made her New York Fashion Week runway debut on Tuesday, February 16, after signing a contract with IMG Models last month. Emhoff, whose father is Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, walked the runway at the socially-distant presentation wearing three looks from the brand's fall/winter 2021 collection, which is the latest offering from New York City-based designer duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
She appeared second in the model lineup, which included Lineisy Montero and Meadow Walker (late actor Paul Walker’s daughter). Her first look consisted of a light gray melange virgin wool slashed waist pants, a black pipe bag and butter Rondo shearling slipper. Her second ensemble comprised of a yellow, swirl print jersey turtleneck top and a navy leather belted trench coat. And her third was a black wool, longline blazer with matching slashed-waist pants.

The last chic collection was “created to comfort, inspire, and empower the modern-day woman", the brand said in a statement. Hence, the mix of sharp, structured tailoring with soft, inviting knitwear. The range is now available to pre-order on proenzaschouler.com until March 18, 2021.
According to a report by CNN Style, during a recorded conversation about NYFW with Proenza Schouler designers McCollough and Hernandez, Emhoff said she "definitely lost a little sleep the night before" her runway debut. "I mean I'm walking for the first time, I'm in a professional environment for the first time... It was a very epic first experience with the fashion world," she said.
The New York Times earlier reported in January that she had signed with IMG Models. "I was pretty surprised when everything with IMG was happening because when I was younger, I never saw that as being part of my timeline," she told the Times of her new modeling gig. She added, "As someone who, like a lot of young girls out there, had self-confidence issues, it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyper-focused on you and the body." Emhoff explained that she changed her mind about modeling when she saw the diverse array of models today and wanted to be a "part of that change".
Emhoff first caught the public's attention at President Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20, 2021, when her embellished Miu Miu coat went viral and made her the event's sartorial breakout star.
Where does Ella Emhoff go to school?
The 21-year-old is currently a senior at Parsons School of Design in New York City. She is studying fine arts with a focus on textiles. She had previously made a surprise appearance in Proenza Schouler's Fall/Winter 2021 show, presented digitally amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
"For a really long time when I was younger, I wanted to be a designer. Then I took it a little more seriously, I started taking courses at Central Saint Martins over two summers," she said referring to the London-based art school. "It definitely exposed me to the intensity of design school. I want to see guys, girls, people, everyone wearing striped colorful pants or my dresses. I think that'd be great," she added.
Emhoff and her older brother, Cole Emhoff, also made occasional appearances on the campaign trail back in 2019 to show their support. In a video message during the 2020 Democratic National Convention, she told Harris, "To my brother and me, you'll always be Momala, the world's greatest stepmom."
