BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS: As per the Boston authorities, the elderly woman who was reportedly attacked with a knife while walking her dog in Franklin Park in the Jamaica Plain has been identified as civil rights hero Jean McGuire. The 91-year-old was allegedly stabbed multiple times, while her identity is just now confirmed by her sister Jeriline Brady-McGinnis.

“My anger was so high I could hear my heartbeat through my whole body, my anger went that high,” frustrated Brady-McGinnis told WHDH in an interview. “And of course, not nice things went through my head. I had to keep myself from getting in my own car and doing something stupid because it had to be a very, very brave man to attack a 91-year-old woman in a park.” According to sources, McGuire parked her car on Walnut Street, went into the park with her dog when she was stabbed several times, reported CBS Boston.

It was around 8.29 pm on Tuesday, October, 11 at 25 Playstead St that the incident took place, when McGuire's dog Bailey had helped her fight off the assailant. The victim was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital and is currently said to be in stable condition. The Boston Police believe McGuire’s alleged attacker could have suffered injuries to his hand during the altercation, reported WHDH. This is an active and ongoing investigation and there have been no arrests as of now, according to the Boston Police Department.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, appealed to the public in finding the perpetrator, “I am disgusted and angry to know that an elder in our community had to fear for her safety going about her daily routine, walking her dog.” She added, “If you have any information about what transpired last night, we need your help in sharing that with the Boston Police.”

The 91-year-old icon was the first Black woman on the Boston School Committee and also the longest serving executive director of Boston's METCO since the early 1970s. The program, METCO is still active with students participating from around with 30 local suburban schools.

"To just imagine this happened is unbelievable. But I know she is strong and will come out of this doing what she's been doing in this community for decades," METCO CEO Milly Arbaje-Thomas stated. "She is an amazing woman, a powerhouse, and every time you mention Jean McGuire's name people know she's a force to be reckoned with," she added.

This is a developing story, check back later for more details.
