Asia Womack: Athlete, 21, shot multiple times by friend after she defeated him in basketball game
DALLAS, TEXAS: A young woman was reportedly shot dead by a man after she defeated him at a pickup basketball game. Asia Womack, 21, was killed on Monday, October 3, and the police later identified the suspect as Cameron Hogg, 31, who is currently on the run. Womack was a well-recognized athlete who had previously played for the James Madison High School basketball team.
According to Fox News, Womack was with Hogg that evening at TG Terry Park just up the street from her home. The family alleged that a verbal altercation broke out between the two. Womack who suffered multiple gunshot wounds was transferred to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries, says the Dallas Police Department.

Hogg shot the 21-year-old five times on Hamilton Avenue, a South Dallas neighborhood, near the park. Prior to the incident, he took his children and brother home, only to return later to commit the crime. A nearby surveillance camera possibly captured his car speeding away. “When it goes to the extreme of such that you that you leave the scene go to the house and you get a gun and you come back,” said Pastor John Delley with Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.
Asia's mother Andrea Womack told the portal, “This was supposed to be a friend of Asia’s. She’s eaten with the man. She’s fed him, and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way.” Delley said, “But this is so senseless. You become embarrassed basically because a female beat you in basketball.” Womack’s aunt Juanita Smith told NBC News, “We’re taking it kind of hard because it was senseless. I believe in forgiveness, but justice needs to be served."
