El Chapo texted his glamorous wife even when he was on the run, installed spyware on lover's phone
As the trial of Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán reaches the halfway point, prosecutors are continuing to reveal information from the operations of the 64-year-old's Sinaloa Cartel which has been involved in the production, smuggling, and distribution of drugs such as meth, weed, ecstasy, cocaine, and MDMA around the world.
This past week's hearings already saw one of his former employees testify about a "murder room" used by one of his hitmen to eliminate the cartel's enemies, and on Wednesday, January 10, prosecutors made the trial a little more personal. As his wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro watched on — they had been blowing kisses to one another and waving to each other as they ran into one another at court — they revealed close to 100 text messages exchanged between Chapo and her, as well as those between the drug lord and another lover.
