Ebola doctor claps back at Trump for 2014 tweet calling him 'selfish' for spreading virus: 'You have failed us'

'I followed all public health guidance and infected no one. You’ve unnecessarily exposed numerous people over the last few days, your administration is refusing to do contact tracing,'

After President Donald Trump, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, October 2, made his White House return within three days of being admitted to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for treatment, telling the people of the United States that there was "nothing to fear", a doctor and Ebola survivor that the POTUS had slammed years ago spoke out against the irresponsibility demonstrated by the president after contracting the virus.

On October 24, 2014, then-business mogul Trump tweeted, "The Ebola doctor who just flew to N.Y. from West Africa and went on the subway, bowling and dining is a very SELFISH man-should have known!" Six years later, Craig Spencer, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Population and Family Health at the Columbia University Medical Center, who was the subject of POTUS' old tweet, wrote, "I followed all public health guidance and infected no one. You’ve unnecessarily exposed numerous people over the last few days, your administration is refusing to do contact tracing, and there’s an outbreak in the White House because of your dangerous disregard of public health."

In multiple separate tweets he added, "You told us ‘Don’t be afraid of Covid’. But right now - as cases rise all across the country yet again - teachers and healthcare providers are putting themselves at risk because you treated this as a political threat, not a public health crisis. ‘Don’t let it dominate your life’ you said! 210k Americans have died. We held their hands & called their families over grainy video connections so they could see their last breaths. Your lack of empathy is the single greatest threat to the American people. You have failed us."

According to his official biography, Spencer "has worked in Africa and Southeast Asia as a field epidemiologist on numerous projects examining access to medical care and human rights, including measuring mortality and maternal health in Burundi, access to legal documentation in Indonesia, child separation in emergencies in DR Congo and South Sudan, and coordinating Doctors Without Borders national epidemiological response in Guinea during the Ebola outbreak".

Spencer's tweet soon went viral with people lauding him for his contributions to the society and for standing up to Trump. "Brave on, Dr. Spencer," wrote one, while another said, "Wow you're the subject of that tweet. This final season of Presidential Apprentice has jumped the shark." A third simply exclaimed, "Burn!!!" Someone else noted how Spencer had waited for the perfect moment to make his comeback. "You waited six years for this moment" the user commented, while another opined, "Furthermore, that doctor is a hero. He risked his health and sacrificed his income when he volunteered to go to Africa in order to stop the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. And he did so even though his bone spurs were very painful."

And that was not all. One of the users noted, "Who needs negative attack ads when you have Twitter you tell em Dr. @Craig_A_Spencer" Another of them said, "Any medical doctor who votes for this sociopath after today’s utter disregard for their profession, should have his/her medical license revoked!" A third remarked, "Regarding Trump's 'Ebola doctor' tweet .... What's that saying about 'calling the kettle black' ????" Some one else wrote, "In my head, I picture you patiently waiting for today, and blam! #TrumpLied200KDied #TrumpKnew"
