'Dancing With the Stars': Jesse Metcalfe's tango fails to thrill, fans say 'handsome face, boring dancer'
Jesse Metcalfe and Sharna Burgess as a pair on 'Dancing With the Stars' haven't yet had their breakthrough moment yet. Judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Derek Hough have been aching to watch the actor come out of his shell, let go of his nerves on the dance floor and perform. They've been giving instructions to Sharna, an Australian ballroom pro-dancer who's been a part of 'DWTS' for the majority of the past seasons and is talented beyond measure, to make the breakthrough moment happen for her partner. Sharna has tried to do so and help Jesse find a connection with the music, however, there's still a lot of work that remains to be done.
The judges have been giving the same feedback to the pair since the premiere episode and it was expected that Jesse would finally have his moment on the dance floor as the show entered its fourth week on Monday, October 12.
Jesse and Sharna did the tango for this episode. The episode was celebrating the '80s, an era loved by many, however, Jesse's tango failed to thrill the audiences and the judges too weren't satisfied and were left wanting more. Bruno said that the performance began really well, at least he felt so, however, it failed to stick and didn't take long before it went downhill. Bruno emphasized that Jesse went really wrong during the performance and that he lost his steps and his timing too. He did commend Jesse for improving but stressed that it wasn't enough and that the actor needed to do more. Carrie on the other hand praised Jesse for the musicality. During one of his past performances, she'd noted that Jesse lacks musicality and tonight, she praised him for the efforts he put in and for being in touch with his musicality. She also added that she'd like to see him connect with Sharna during the performance because the discord was a little distracting. Derek was a little easier on him than the rest of the judges. He encouraged Jesse saying, "We are all rooting for you. I didnt think this was your best dance but still commend you for doing what you do." Jesse's score for his tango performance was 19/30.
The audiences however didn't go easy on Jesse with their comments. "I am not a Jesse fan. Handsome face. Boring dancer. #DWTS time to go home, John Tucker," tweeted a fan. "JESSE IS SO FRUSTRATING TO ME. Ugh. I'm bummed. #dwts" wrote another. "I feel like that was a lot of walking and not enough dancing #DWTS," wrote another. "I didn’t feel that dance, Jesse! It felt so ROBOTIC! Not my Favorite performance! #DWTS #DancingWiththeStars" read another tweet. "Digging Jesse's hair....not his footsteps #DWTS #TeamAllin #80sNight," read another tweet.
