Drunk Florida woman 'smiled' before tossing boyfriend's pug from seventh-floor condo
A 46-year-old Florida woman has been arrested after she allegedly tossed her boyfriend’s pug off the balcony of his seventh-floor condo under influence. The accused Shelley Nicole Vaughn entered her boyfriend, Eric Adeson’s condo at the Regatta Beach Club in Clearwater Beach on Sunday, February 27. She then began tossing his belongings out of the window and hitting him during an argument.
Adeson revealed that his now ex-girlfriend was drunk and using prescription drugs as well as marijuana when she picked up his 3-year-old pug, Bucky, smiled, and then threw him. "I was screaming… I went down and Bucky was lying there in a pool of blood. I never thought anybody could do that. I never thought anybody would have that in them.” Adeson told reporters on Tuesday as he cried.

Shelley was arrested on Monday and is charged with aggravated animal cruelty, criminal mischief, and domestic battery. She is looking at a maximum of two years jail time for criminal mischief and domestic battery charges along with fines of $1,000 each and up to $5,000 for animal cruelty. Additionally, Adeson has also filed a $30,000 lawsuit against Shelley and a restraining order, given they live in the same building.
Adeson told the police that Shelley was drunk and arguing with him when she threw his cellphone and keys before hitting him as she reached for Bucky. Adeson was screaming in shock and pushed her out of the way to make the desperate run downstairs. “It's like a blur, I’m devastated,” Adeson said recollecting the incident. A passerby called the police, who reportedly found Shelley locked from inside in her condo on the fourth floor.
Adeson, who is a 56-year-old SAT teacher, told that Bucky was a sweet pup and served him as a companion when his 13-year-old puggle, Sandy, had cancer in 2019. He also claimed that this wasn’t the first time Shelley had gotten aggressive and physical, “The combination of Xanax, marijuana, and alcohol makes her snap,' he said. 'She just goes crazy”. He also added that Shelley was “going through a tough time” as her mom was fighting cancer.
