The latest Tiktok challenge to go viral is called the "door kick challenge". In these videos, people go around unsuspecting neighborhoods and record themselves kicking the doors of homeowners.

These TikTok videos have Kesha's song 'Die Young' playing in the background. After the lyrics, "I hear your heartbeat to the beat of the drums," TikTokers kick at the doors twice, and sometimes actually kick it in. The challenge has caught the attention of several law enforcement agencies across the US. While the trend may seem harmless, it has caused some safety concerns in communities across the country.

Why is the 'door kick challenge' being called illegal?

Even while most of us played knock-and-run games as children, this dare appears to have caused property damage, and residents may mistake the jarring knocks for an intruder, according to police, reports KSat

What if a person is unaware of this TikTok trend and believes they are in true physical danger? Although this challenge is harmless in theory, its introduction into the community has given rise to some serious safety concerns.

The fear is that if this trend continues, a homeowner could take matters into their own hands to fend off what they might believe are burglars. This can possibly cause panic attacks and even anxiety.

Cibolo police warn of dangerous ‘door kick challenge’ on Tik Tok

The Cibolo Police Department has recently issued a warning about a potentially dangerous trend on TikTok called the "door kick challenge". This challenge encourages participants to kick a door of an unsuspecting resident, which has raised safety concerns and legal consequences.

According to the police, homeowners who are targets of this challenge might mistake it for a break-in, leading them to defend their property with violence. This could result in serious harm or injury to the participants or the homeowners.

Aside from that, a lot of people now have cameras on their porches, so breaking a door and causing damage would only get you into problems with the law if the video shows that you were the one who did it. This challenge isn't worth the potential risks. Instead of performing something that could raise security issues, spend your time creating the next great TikTok dance challenge to earn your 10 seconds of fame.
