'Just got hella free food & liquor': DoorDash glitch leads to hundreds of users getting FREE FOOD!

DoorDash is back in the news, this time because a glitch that led to hundreds of people get free food. The news spread across social media like wildfire with people expressing the surprise and enjoyment that the glitch unknowingly offered to them. The glitch, however has been fixed now. 

DoorDash has been plagued with glitches over the months, with those delivering food facing issues like the dispatch system crashing, causing information about their destination to disappear. System crashes can be extremely difficult for delivery drivers, called dashers, whose moves are dictated by algorithms in the system.

“Customers will freak out, [asking] ‘Why hasn’t my order been delivered?'” Stephanie Adams, a dasher in Morehead City, North Carolina, had said of the glitches, according to Fast Company. “Well, it’s not delivered because we can’t see it.”

DoorDash earlier acknowledged that there have been more issues with its Android app than the iOS version. However, the company also claimed that their performance has increased in the recent months. Dashers have continued to claim that faulty tech is responsible for glitchy orders. User reviews on social media have backed their claims on numerous occasions.

“You might be in the middle of an order . . . using in-app navigation, which means you might not have the address and the ability to even physically complete the order,” explained Lyle Wilner, a dasher in San Diego. “So whatever you’re doing, you are unable to proceed.” Outages often last from 15 minutes to an entire day. Lage outages, in fact, can occur every week. 

Besides outages, the DoorDash Android app for drivers is also often troublesome, dashers have said. The problems include freezes and crashes, buttons that don’t work, and assignments that end abruptly. 

Social media is overwhelmed with hilarious comments following the recent 'free food' glitch. One user wrote, "yoooo doordash is glitched rn y’all better get all the free food you can get before they fix it." "Not me missing out on the free food from Doordash They fixed that glitch fast asf lmaoooo," one user said.

"Now I’m feeling lame because how I missed doordash giving out free food," one user wrote, while another said, "doordash glitching i just got hella free food & liquor off of there THANKKKKK YOUUU". "i was wondering why doordash ain’t take no money off my card just ate good asl for the free!" one user said.

Some users have pointed out how this glitch could affect the dashers, and slammed those who rejoiced over the free food but forgot to tip those who delivered it. "So y’all got a Doordash glitch to where you can get anything you wanted for free and nobody thought to start tipping workers $1,000+ ??" one user wrote. "Thanks to a glitch, people are ordering free food from DoorDash. Yet, they are still not tipping their drivers despite their huge orders. Now why is that?" "Y’all getting free doordash I hope y’all are tipping those drivers well," said one user.
