LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: During an emotional discussion on the tragedy and their loss, JonBenet Ramsey's father provided consolation to the family of Liberty German, also known as Libby, who was murdered in Delphi. John Ramsey, 79, met Becky Patty, Libby's grandmother, at CrimeCon in Las Vegas, Nevada, last year.

On Valentine's Day 2017, Libby, 14, and her close friend Abigail Williams, 13, also known as Abby, were discovered dead in a forested location in Delphi, Indiana. The two eighth-graders never made it home after spending their day off at the Delphi Historic Trails the day before they disappeared. Investigators have never explained how the girls were slain, despite the fact that both were said to have been "posed" and to have lost a lot of blood, according to police records.

How did JonBenet Ramsey's father console Libby's grandmother?

Prior to meeting Patty, Libby's grandmother, at the yearly true crime event, John claimed he was unaware of the case; yet, he said that he was appalled and grieved to learn of Libby and Abby's unfortunate deaths, as reported by The Sun. John said the two became close because of their shared loss, and Patty confided in him about the scenarios that still haunt her. "She was saying to me, 'I never should've let those girls go to the trail, should I?' but I told her you can't think like that," recalled John.

'You can't blame yourself'

During his heartfelt chat with Libby's grandmother, JonBenet father said, "You can't blame yourself, you had no way of knowing what was going to happen, so you can't torture yourself over it. It was the same for me, with the note that we found, like, what could I have done to make someone so angry that they would want to hurt my child?" John continued, "But you've got to free yourself from that anchor so you can move on, otherwise you'll just get battered and pushed around by the waves [of grief]."

Tuesday, February 14, marks the sixth anniversary of Libby and Abby's deaths. The investigation into their deaths appeared to have stalled for years, with police sharing few updates and what looked to be few clues, according to reports. However, the tables turned as the 50-year-old local CVS employee Richard Allen was arrested in October 2022 and charged with two charges of murder. John claimed that the discovery in the Delphi case gave him optimism that, after 26 years and counting, the killer of his daughter would finally be caught.
