Supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol in Washington DC right after a speech by Trump in an attempt to take over the building. As a result, two buildings were evacuated and employees, reporters and others who were near posted shocking videos of thousands of people storming the building.

The limited number of federal agents were not able to control the crowd and videos of individuals destroying the doors and property of the Capitol building were shared. As news of the storming spread, Trump tweeted, "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!" However, the incident has since become more violent. In fact, just a few minutes ago, an armed standoff was reported. Reports said a woman was treated for gunshot wounds.

According to a report in CNN, a lawmaker confirmed that the police had drawn their gun at someone attempting to reach the House front door. Protesters were reportedly heard banging on the doors of the House floor moments before the floor evacuation began.

Twitter users have since used Trump's words 'Law and Order' from when the Black Lives Matter protest were taking place and the same is trending. So is "Thugs", as users called the protesters thugs for destroying property and creating chaos. Republican representing the 10th District of Texas, Michael McCaul, tweeted, "I like many people voted for President Trump in the 2020 election and hoped for a different result. But violence and destruction is not the way to express your grievances. This is disgraceful and has to end." He attached a video of individuals being stopped by law enforcement agents but failing miserably. Football player Tyrell Crosby, shared a video of people attempting to break the door down to enter and wrote, "Thugs? Criminals? Destroying of government property? Law&Order?" People shared videos of Trump supporters breaking windows to enter the building, and one of them wrote, "And watch, when or if, trump addresses this, he wont call them thugs like he called the blm protesters, who were protesting for human rights."

Connor Lamb tweeted and wrote, "Some of my former law enforcement colleagues knew what the Trump campaign said about police, law & order was all fake. Now we can all see it. Thank you to these brave officers for doing the hard work of enforcing the law fairly against people who don't respect the law. Stay safe."

People on Twitter have also begun to compare this to the Black Lives Matter movement as there are questions being raised about how differently law authorities are reacting to Trump supporters trying take over the Capitol Building on the same day as the Electoral Voting compared to people protesting systemic oppression. One user wrote, "This US situation is actually great at showing literal systemic racism BLM "thugs" were shot/ran over/tear gassed/killed/etc Trumps henchmen arent even being detained for entering the capitol lol Shit is insane to me."

The electoral voting certification has been suspended due to the threats.
