Biden and family forced to charter jet for inauguration after Trump refuses to let them use Air Force Boeing 757

Ever since President Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden in the November 2020 elections, he has gone on record to make it clear that he is unhappy with the transfer of power. He swore to not attend Biden's inauguration and even uploaded a pre-taped farewell speech on YouTube. And now, in yet another snub to the new president, Trump 'refused' to authorize an Air Force jet forcing Biden to charter his own plane to fly from Delaware to Washington DC.
After he delivered an emotional speech eulogizing his dead son Beau, who died of cancer in 2015, Joe Biden and Jill Biden arrived in DC with family on a private Boeing 737 plane after Trump refused them a government jet. Reports say that as they landed at Joint Base Andrews, they went past an idle Air Force Boeing 757 on the tarmac.
Trump's refusal to accept Biden as his successor is evident now more than ever as he did not even mention Biden by name or congratulate him on his victory in the 20-minute farewell video uploaded on YouTube. Instead, he sought to rebuild his legacy overcompensating with self-adulations. "This week, we inaugurate a new administration and pray for its success in keeping America safe and prosperous," Trump said. "We extend our best wishes and we also want them to have luck — a very important word."
He also made several disputed claims of achievement like how his administration "restored the American dream," built the "greatest economy in the history of the world," revitalized global alliances and rebuilt the US military. "I am especially proud to be the first president in decades who has started no new wars," Trump pointedly added. However, some outlets reported that a White House official said the Biden team did not ask for a government plane to bring Biden to DC despite being informed of the available options. But aides to Biden clarified they preferred to fly on private aircraft, the official added.
On January 20, the day of the inauguration, Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in at the West Front of the US capitol during the 59th Presidential Inauguration ceremony. Then the Trumps will fly out of Washington without greeting the Bidens, and the president will hold his very own farewell 'ceremony' at Andrews before getting on Air Force One to his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Trump's latest actions have gained him notoriety on social media. "Plane nasty: Joe Biden and family arrive at Joint Base Andrews on charter plane after Trump REFUSES them government jet (despite a 757 sitting on tarmac) - after Joe cries during heartrending speech about son Beau," one user said. Many have deemed him petty: "Petty outgoing President Donald Trump fails to grant President elect Joe Biden courtesy military plane to Washington DC. Biden forced to use his campaign private Jet to DC."

During his speech in Delaware, Biden broke down as he spoke about his dead son, and how "Delaware will be written on my heart and the hearts of all of the Bidens" when he dies. "And I am proud — proud, proud, proud to be a son of Delaware and I am even more proud to be standing here doing this from the Major Beau Biden facility," he had said.
