Former President Donald Trump mocked ex-first lady Michelle Obama's appearance in a speech to GOP donors at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend, which drew thunderous laughter from the attendees.

In an audio recording of the speech, obtained by the Washington Post, Trump could be heard suggestively stressing on former President Barack Obama's middle name and commenting on Michelle's looks, all the while launching fresh attacks on Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, whom Trump took credit for helping elect in 2018. He said that he helped Kemp snatch victory despite the fact that the latter's Democratic rival, Stacey Abrams, was being backed by the likes of the Obamas and Oprah Winfrey.

Trump chose to particularly draw up Kemp's name as he was one of the Republicans who declined to toe the former POTUS' line on the legitimacy of the 2020 election. In airing his grievance, Trump made the distasteful comment about Michelle's appearance, which has often served as a punchline in some portions for conservatives on the internet.

He began by saying “Oprah Winfrey camped out in Atlanta” in support of Abrams and went on to falsely claim that Winfrey was there for “months.” Trump added: “Barack Hussein Obama and the very beautiful Michelle Obama were there for … ” During the pause, the audience laughed "uproariously," as mentioned by the Post. “ … they were there for — forever,” Trump concluded.

As soon as the story hit the social media circuit, people spoke up in support of Michelle as they condemned Trump for berating her looks. "Trump only WISHES his wife had a FRACTION of Michelle Obama's BEAUTY and CLASS!" one of them said, while another noted, "The only thing worse to Trump than being bested by a black man is the knowledge how inferior he is to Michelle Obama and Stacey Abrams, 2 black women." One more said, "Classless. Also Michelle Obama is basically a superhero, and gorgeous."

"He is so foul... but 'be best' right Melania," the next quipped, while another commented, "Imagine...this guy making fun of anyone else's looks....lol" A commenter tweeted, "What a freaking disgrace they all are. So proud to be hateful and nasty." One more said, "You can learn a lot about people, by how they speak of others." Another wrote, "Has he seen himself?" A person reacted with, "And people wonder why he's hated so much and why so many of us voted his black heart out of office! Politics should never stoop to this level of hate and ugliness. Evil mf." One more said, "With the former guy, everything is vulgar & distasteful. Glad he’s not in my life." Another remarked, "Look in the mirror jackass."

Trump's history of insulting women in public

Michelle Obama is by no means the first target of Trump's wrath against women who have gone against him. The list of insults Trump has hurled at women publicly includes "fat pigs," "slobs," "dogs," and "horseface."

In front of his supporters at a campaign rally in 2016, Trump said of former Secretary of State and his ex-presidential rival, Hillary Clinton: "When she walked in front of me, believe me, I wasn’t impressed." He also called Clinton a "nasty woman" during one heated presidential debate in 2016. Trump, during a heated election campaign in 2016 took a tone of "disgust" describing the appearance of his then-Republican primary competitor, Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of the Hewlett-Packard, during a television interview. "Look at that face," he said, according to Rolling Stone. "Would anyone vote for that?"

In response to former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman saying Trump had exhibited signs of dementia and that she had proof he previously used the n-word, the former president called her a "crazed, crying lowlife" and a "dog" in 2018. In 2015, after former conservative TV host Megyn Kelly pressed Trump in a presidential debate about the incendiary language he has used toward women in the past, which included calling women "fat pigs" and "slobs," Trump curtly responded, "only Rosie O'Donnell." After the debate, Trump called Kelly a "bimbo" and "highly overrated." "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her — wherever," he said.
