Did a fly ruin any chances for current Vice President Mike Pence to win in the debate? This is what the Internet is discussing after a fly sat on Pence's head for several minutes and led to a public spectacle in the 2020 Vice Presidential Debate. However, President Donald Trump still backed Pence who is among his coterie of top officials in his administration.

Trump tweeted after the debate wrapped up on October 7, "Mike Pence WON BIG!"

While Trump supported Pence, the Internet found loopholes in his claim of Pence winning in the debate. People argued that apart from frolic distractions like a fly, on a serious note, Pence did not answer many questions on critical issues.

When moderator Susan Page began the debate with questions about the Trump administration’s response in combing Covid-19, Pence didn’t have much to offer other than Trump’s decision to ban travel from China. Furthermore, the current VP dodged answering questions related to general health-care policies.

Moreover, Pence failed to guarantee a peaceful transfer of power if rival Democratic candidate Joe Biden wins in the November 3 Presidential elections. People also cornered him for interrupting while Democratic challenger Harris was speaking in the debate. He was also criticized for his disrespectful behavior toward women including moderator Page.

With such unsatisfactory responses in debate and a joke on the fly, the Internet was abuzz with comments on Pence and disagreed with Trump who hailed him. A user wrote on the fly incident, "Lol! The fly could have beaten Mike Pence. He literally didn’t answer a single question." Another concurred, "Speaking of flies... Shooo!"

A user wrote favoring Harris, "He not only lost to Kamala. He lost to a fly." Another said, "Kamala Harris Won so huge! Pence was so embarrassed and defensive the whole time."

A user wrote on the debate, "Like Donald Trump... Mike Pence declined to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if Trump loses the election." A user wrote on Pence's inept reponse on Covid-19, "Leader of the covid task force pence could not handle the question on the rose garden event."

Another wrote on Pence and Harris favoring the latter, "Harris did well and she didn’t have to fill her responses with lies like Pence did but he did corner her on Supreme Court. I wanted her to call out his lie about impeached #CovidtRump closing down China though. That's one of DT's biggest lies. He restricted 'some' China travel."
