Donald Trump leaves White House with Melania one last time as President, says 'it was an honor of a lifetime'
President Donald Trump will be finally exiting the White House for the last time on Wednesday. The 45th POTUS will be succeeded by Joe Biden on January 21 as the new President. After what has been an eventful three months that also saw Trump become the first President in the history of the country to be impeached twice following the Capitol riots.
News channels captured Trump leaving the White House. Although he was supposed to be reaching the Joint Andrews base in Maryland at 8:10 am, the helicopter that was slated to take off with the former President was still parked on the south lawn at 8:11 am. Media outlets also observed Trump and Melania holding hands and walking out and of the White House. They waved at the media gathered and made their way to Marine One that would next take them to Palm Beach international.
"It has been a great honor and an amazing four years," he said before he walked to Marine One. Trump would next fly to Joint Base Andrews to speak in front of Air Force One to a small crowd of his supporters. The pair stopped briefly to speak to the media before they boarded the chopper. Melania was dressed in all black and wore sunglasses. The Daily Mail said his early departure for Florida has caused a logistical and security headache as he is also taking with him nuclear codes. They will then be flown back to DC to be handed over to Biden later at noon.
The media also dubbed Melania's all-black outfit as a very "Audrey Hepburn" look while Trump was dressed in a black suit. He looked back at the people and flashed a closed fist and waved the crowd goodbye one final time. As per a Sun Sentinel report, Joe Budd, president of the Trump Club 45 USA fan club reckoned a massive crowd of supporters will greet Trump when Air Force One lands at Palm Beach International. Budd also added that his supporters from different states are planning to visit him and one of them is a woman from the Gulf coast.
On his part, Trump's farewell address on January 19 saw him term himself as a "Washington outsider who built the greatest political movement in the history of our country." He added there was more incoming despite a change in administration. "Now, as I prepare to hand power over to a new administration at noon on Wednesday, I want you to know that the movement we started is only just beginning," Trump said.
Palm Beach International makes preparations as well starting off with restricting traffic on Ocean Boulevard. The site also added that Federal Aviation will put in-flight restrictions around the Palm Beach International airport.
