NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Laurene Powell Jobs, billionaire philanthropist and widow of Apple legend Steve Jobs, has come under fire from Donald Trump over The Atlantic magazine.

The former president took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on November 25 to mock the publication in which Powell Jobs' company owns a majority stake.

What did Donald Trump post on social media?

"It's so good to see how badly the THIRD RATE MAGAZINE, The Atlantic, is doing. It's failing at a level seldom seen before, even in the Publishing Business," wrote the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, "False and Fake stories do it every time!"

"They've got a rich person funding the ridiculous losses, but at some point, rich people get smart also. Steve Jobs would not be proud of his wife, Laurene, and the way she is spending his money," he continued, adding, "The Radical Left is destroying America!"

What is the net worth of Laurene Powell Jobs?

According to Forbes, Powell Jobs is one of the wealthiest women in the world with a net worth of approximately $13 billion. She inherited most of her fortune from Jobs, who died in 2011, through shares of Apple and Disney.

Powell Jobs is the founder of Emerson Collective, an organization that focuses on issues such as education, immigration reform, environmental causes, and media and journalism. In 2017, the company bought a majority stake in The Atlantic.

Donald Trump did not specify the article that earned his ire

Peter Wehner, a Trump critic who served in the administrations of three Republican presidents, wrote an op-ed in the magazine in November, reported Newsweek.

In his writing, Wehner described Trump's rhetoric as "clearly fascistic" and noted that he is "becoming frighteningly clear about what he wants."

Addressing Christians who support Trump, Wehner stated that they "are not only betraying their humanity; they are betraying the Lord they claim to love and serve."

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's post

Netizens are not taking Trump's comments, especially those against Laurene Powell Jobs, well, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"There is no slight too petty for him to pick up on, and whine about. What an utter loser," wrote a user.

"It takes a weak insecure individual to talk about a dead man’s living wife," stated another user.

One user questioned, "How many businesses has he bankrupted? Including CASINOS?!?!?!"

"I can’t imagine being so negative that all you do day in and day out is disrespect and disparage people. I don’t know how he can feel good about himself when he is such a despicable human, bullying complainer & lawbreaker. He’s a loser & a felon. Justice will be served soon," was the take of a user.

Another user declared, "He is such a small, petty man."
