It's not even been a week since former U.S. President Donald Trump has been out of the office and started his post-White House life in Mar-a-Lago – his Palm Beach, Florida resort – and the former POTUS is reportedly already suffering from intense "boredom", according to a source close to him.

While tweeting New York Times' latest article on Trump titled, 'As Trump Seeks to Remain a Political Force, New Targets Emerge' reporter Maggie Haberman added a sidenote. "Not in our piece, but since it published, two people in touch with him described him as "bored out of his mind"," she said in her tweet.

The NYT piece said that Trump has told aides he would like to take a break for several months. Since he has remained the Republican Party’s strongest fund-raiser, with tens of millions in PAC money at his disposal, and former leader retains an enduring base of Republican support across the country.

Nevertheless, Haberman's sidenote did evoke a stream of mockery among those who did not particularly like or care for the president. "The 'out of his mind' part sounds consistent," one of them said, while another noted, "Imagine the boredom of incarceration." A third commented, "Recommend he try a round of golf and some light grifting." One more wrote, "So he’ll do a rally soon. Great."

The next quipped, "I misread this title as 'political farce' and didn't even bat an eye...that checks out, too." One more said, "He’s got a son. He could parent." A commenter tweeted, "We fight for justice, he fights for fun." One more remarked, "Nothing makes me happier then him having to experience the boredom we have because he couldn’t control the damn pandemic."

At the moment, Trump is reportedly taking it easy, golfing frequently, and was spotted by people at his club in Florida playing with the brother of the former tennis star Anna Kournikova on Sunday, January 24. He has also had discussions about getting back on to some form of social media platform to raise money for what one could assume were future campaigns. Apparently, his advisers have insisted that he did not need to be on Twitter or Facebook necessarily, which were the most well-known platforms and from which he had been banned following the accusation of inciting an insurrection that led to the Capitol siege on January 6.

His aides are also building something that can serve as an office for Trump in Mar-a-Lago as we reported earlier that Trump on Monday, January 25, established an official post-presidency office in Palm Beach County, Florida, setting up a vehicle for future public appearances and statements. According to the press release from the office, "The Office of the Former President" will manage Trump's correspondence, public statements, appearance and official activities. "President Trump will always and forever be a champion for the American People," the release said.

Many previous presidents of the United States have post-presidency offices, including George W Bush, Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton. None of them have used the title of “former president” to name their offices because the phrase is not exclusive to their presidency, the same way it is not exclusive to Trump’s. Instead, they simply used their names for their office title.
