Dolly Parton takes Covid-19 vaccine after donating $1M for Moderna, fans ask when is she 'running for office'
Country music star Dolly Parton had a message for her fans as she got her first dose of Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine on Tuesday, March 2. The singer shared a four-minute-long video on her Twitter handle that showed her at a facility in Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She even sings a Covid-19 vaccine version of her hit song ‘Jolene’ before getting the shot.
Parton sings, “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine," she sings in the famous tune. “I'm begging of you please don't hesitate." She has been encouraging people to get their vaccine shot even if they are afraid. “I just wanted to encourage everybody because the sooner we get to feeling better the sooner we get back to normal,” the singer said.

How Parton helped fund Moderna
In 2020, Parton donated $1 million to the overall coronavirus research through the Dolly Parton Covid-19 Research Fund and in partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a part of which was used for the research and development of Moderna. She first found out about her funds being used in Moderna when she was thanked in a preliminary report.
She appeared on ‘Today’ shortly after she learned about her funds being used in Moderna’s development and said, "Praise the Lord! I'm just very grateful that this is happening, and if I had anything to do with it, that's great."
"I'm just happy that anything I do can help somebody else. I donated the money to the Covid fund, I just wanted it to do good. Evidently, it is. Let's just hope we find a cure real soon,” she added.
