The latest incarnation of the Master played by Sacha Dhawan has already managed to make quite a splash since he debuted in 'Doctor Who' Series 12.

The 'Dracula' and 'Iron Fist' actor's portrayal of the evil mastermind has been absolutely perfect, depicting the Doctor's archnemesis as the suave psychopath he truly is.

To top it all off, Episode 2 'Spyfall, Part 2' reveals that this version of the Master may have gone further in his madness than any of his previous incarnations.

In the final scenes of the episode, the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) finally takes a trip back to their homeworld, only to find that the rogue Time Lord has already managed to pull off a near-total genocide of the Gallifreyan race.

That the Master is a murderous psychopath is nothing new to fans of 'Doctor Who'. But that said, this attack on his own people is of a scale that we haven't seen from the Master before as he has totally obliterated Gallifrey, leaving the once-shining cityscape in ruins with no visible signs of life.

So why would the Master do such a thing? Well, normally we'd expect him to commit mass murder for the sheer fun of it but it seems this time, he may actually have a good reason for the violence he unleashed on his own people.

The Master tells the Doctor that everything they were taught about the origins of the Time Lords has been a lie. Once again, we get a reference to the mysterious Timeless Child, a plot thread that has been popping up ever since Chris Chibnall took control of the show.

This particular arc is expected to be resolved this season and it looks like it might end up retconning all of Gallifreyan history. Right now, we don't know if there are any Time Lords other than the Master and the Doctor left in existence.

This isn't the first time the Time Lords were believed to be exterminated but this time around, it does indeed look like Gallifrey has well and truly fallen and the Master has finally triumphed.

'Doctor Who' Series 12 Episode 3 'Orphan 55' will arrive on BBC America on January 12.
