According to online prison records cited by ABC7, Nava was being held at Montgomery County jail on a felony charge of obstructing the arrest or prosecution of a known offender. Despite the fact that the same documents show Nava is not married, Montgomery County Sheriff Rand Henderson stated to Associated Press that Nava was his wife and was apprehended near her home in Conroe, Texas, where Oropeza was discovered.

A four-day manhunt for Oropeza ended on Tuesday when investigators, following on a tip tracked his location near the home which is 20 minutes from where the shooting unfolded. He was discovered hidden beneath a pile of laundry in a house closet.

San Jacinto County Chief Deputy Tim Kean indicated that they were waiting to determine if the mass shooting weapon had been recovered. Kean as per CNN said, "As of now, we may have the weapon, but we have to wait for ballistics." The Deputy also confirmed that "several arrests" have been made in connection with the killings.

Oropeza was apprehended after a four-day manhunt involving hundreds of officers from local and state authorities. Authorities have not provided any additional details on the new arrests but reportedly fewer than five arrests have been made.

According to the police, the murders unfolded when Oropeza was firing rounds in his backyard late Friday night. On being approached by the neighbor requesting him to stop or go further away as a baby was trying to sleep. Later, the neighbor, Wilson Garcia called the police after he refused and after 10 to 20 minutes Oropeza started firing, authorities said.

In the firing, Garcia lost his 25-year-old wife, Sonia Argentina Guzman, nine-year-old son, Daniel Enrique Laso, and three family friends Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21, Julisa Molina Rivera, 31, and Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18.

Oropeza will be charged with five counts of murder, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said. The bond was set at $5 million. “They can rest easy now because he is behind bars,” Capers said of the families of the victims as per WREG. “He will live out his life behind bars for killing those five.”
