'Dirty John' Episode 7 review: John underestimating Debra's ability to fight back could prove to be a huge roadblock for him

While Debra is too forgiving and it may just be the reason for her downfall, what John didn't expect is that she could possibly see through his lies.

Even though John Meehan is 'Dirty John's villain, at this point in the story we can't help but wonder - would he be so powerful without the aides he's had through every con? Would John be able to do everything he's done to Debra if everyone affected by him hadn't brushed it aside as someone else's problem? Not at all. John would be nothing without the fear he invokes in his victims and every woman who's ever been conned by him would be able to save the next one had they been more proactive. 

It's an ideal situation of course that I'm talking about and John picked his victims carefully - so carefully, that he was certain that it would never circle back to him. With his ex-wife and the countless women he has dated, threatened and used, John made sure that he left them so scared and broken that they could never even think about lashing out. However, he made a mistake by underestimating Debra Newell.
