LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The MCU is ever-expanding and fans have already got several of their favorite comic book characters on screen. On the other hand, some of the beloved movie arcs are coming to an end, and 'Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3' is set to introduce several new and iconic Marvel characters, including High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) and Adam Warlock (Will Poulter). The latter was previously teased in 'GOTG 2' and it now appears he could be a strong presence in the upcoming Marvel projects.

'GOTG 3' is directed by James Gunn, with most of the franchise's regulars appearing in the movie, including Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Dave Bautista as Drax, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Bradley Cooper as Rocket (voice) and Vin Diesel as Groot (voice). The long-awaited sequel is set to be an emotional goodbye for the team. As far as the plotline of the movie is concerned, the upcoming third part of 'GOTG' will shed some light on Rocket's troubled past.

Adam Warlock in MCU

James Gunn, who directed all 'Guardians' installments in the MCU, revealed more information about Adam Warlock in his recent interview with Empire. Warlock was teased in the second 'GOTG' when Ayesha's (Elizabeth Debicki) Sovereign created him in a cocoon to seek revenge on the Guardians team for betraying them. Ever since, Gunn confirmed, "He’s definitely not a good guy." He added that Warlock is still a baby, not long out from a cocoon. But that doesn't mean he can be taken for granted. Gunn noted that Warlock could have his own place in the ongoing multiversal saga and added, "He could become this really important character." This tease from Gunn confirms the future potential for Warlock in the MCU.

Who is Adam Warlock?

In the comics, Warlock is created by a group called the Enclave as a perfect and invisible human being. As a result, when 'Him' (before becoming Adam Warlock, the character was addressed as 'Him') came out of the cocoon, he sensed the evil intention of his creators and rebelled. His powers include superhuman strength, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes.

'Him' was then found by the High Evolutionary, when the latter was completing the artificial Counter-Earth with the purpose of having an evil-free planet. It was the High Evolutionary who named 'Him' Adam Warlock after bestowing him with the Soul Gem, which gave him additional powers. Since the MCU is done with the Infinity Saga, it is unlikely that we would see Warlock donning a Soul Stone. Warlock also has a cosmic awareness and can create a cocoon around himself and can also produce blasts of cosmic energy.

However, the movie has made several changes to the character's storyline, including his creation. But as the trailer suggests, the upcoming 'GOTG' movie shows us the High Evolutionary and his perfect Earth. So we have to wait and watch for how much of a comic influence is seen in Adam Warlock.
