Did Rupert Murdoch break up with Jerry Hall over text? Actress was SHOCKED at sudden split
After reports of Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall divorcing each other started doing the rounds, a recent report has suggested that the 91-year-old media mogul allegedly ended his marriage to the 65-year-old model and actress via text message.
According to Daily Mail, sources close to the couple claimed that Hall was "shocked" at the sudden end of their six-year-long relationship. The billionaire reportedly broke up with the model electronically, via text message or email. "What is clear is that he did the dumping," a source said. Murdoch officials declined to comment on the claims, as per the portal.

Friends of the couple blamed their different lifestyles and Hall's smoking as reasons behind the split. Murdoch met the model after he split from his third wife, Wendi Deng, in 2013. The duo went public at the Rugby World Cup final in October 2015, and their first red carpet appearance was at the Golden Globes 2016.
At the time, his friends had said, "Rupert couldn't be happier... He's not acting like a crazy old man in love with a teenager. He just seems very, very happy. It's a wonderful thing." Murdoch and Hall got married in March 2016 at the Church of England, eight weeks after announcing their engagement. "No more tweets for ten days or ever! Feel like the luckiest AND happiest man alive," the mogul tweeted after the wedding.

As a matter of fact, Murdoch has kept his promise and has not tweeted ever since. Publicly, the couple was last spotted in London in August 2021, where they were pictured arriving for a dinner separately but reportedly left together. A friend of the couple, who was present at Murdoch's summer party at the Serpentine Gallery last Monday, told Daily Mail, "I thought it was strange that she wasn't there. She is a social butterfly and would normally attend such events. I also noticed that neither her side of the family nor her friends were there."
Prior to Hall and Deng, Murdoch divorced Anna, his second wife, in 1999. Patricia Booker, an Australian model, was his first wife, who he divorced in 1965. Hall was previously married to singer Mick Jagger, but their marriage was annulled in 1999.
"Mr. Murdoch's divorce, his fourth, is unlikely to alter the ownership structure of businesses he holds stakes in, which include parent companies of Fox News and The Wall Street Journal. The Murdoch family's shares in the companies Mr. Murdoch founded reside in a strictly managed trust. Mr. Murdoch splits voting rights over that trust with his four oldest children — Lachlan, Elisabeth, James, and Prudence — and has arranged them so that he can never be outvoted," reports The New York Times.
