Larry 'The DUI Guy' Forman: Lawyer HAILED for donating money from sale of Depp-Heard trial notebook to children's hospital

When bids crossed $14k, Forman decided to give the money to the LA Children's Hospital, while stating they should've gotten the money months ago

A lawyer was hailed for selling his notes from the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp defamation trial for nearly $15k and donating the proceeds to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).

Heard, 36, had pledged to donate $3.5 million each to the ACLU and the Children's Hospital Los Angeles from her divorce settlement with Depp, 59, but is yet to fulfill her promise. Now, Larry "The DUI Guy" Forman is donating the small fortune he made on eBay after traveling to the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia to witness the legal battle unfold, taking notes from moments the live cameras couldn't capture, including juror reactions. What's more? Forman also put his wristband from the courtroom up for sale on the website.

Forman initially told TMZ how he sat in on the trial that took place at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia and jotted down some notes. The lawyer, who goes by the handle @KyDUIGuy on Twitter, explained that he initially went to court as a one-off moment, but his friends told him to go back again and continue taking notes. By the time the verdict was announced, Forman's notebook had nearly 20 pages worth of content per day and covered between 23 to 26 days of the case. The notebook supposedly details reactions from jurors that weren't picked up by the cameras.  

"They only let 100 people into the courtroom," Forman said, as quoted by local station WDRB. "Not Michael Jackson in '05, not Casey Anthony in '08, not Rittenhouse in 2020, or anything in between that you can think of has risen to the same level of notoriety since (the O.J. Simpson murder trial)."

As the verdict came in, the "DUI guy" soon became the "notebook guy." The lawyer put his notes for sale on eBay, where the bids started climbing with every passing day. Eventually, someone paid more than $14k for it, prompting Forman to give the money to the LA Children's Hospital. "It's a good cause, and they're going to get the money they should've gotten months and months ago," Forman said.

During the trial, hospital reps said that Heard has only paid $250k of the money she promised. The actress told the courtroom that she had every intention of fulfilling her pledge but wasn't able to pay the remaining sum after her ex-husband sued her. The trial concluded with the seven-member jury awarding Depp $15 million in total, which was brought down to roughly $10.4 million due to a legal limit on punitive damages in the state of Virginia. On the other hand, Heard was awarded $2 million.

Elaine Bredehoft, Heard's lead attorney in the case, later revealed that her client is "absolutely not" able to pay the damages awarded to Depp. Meanwhile, it will also cost the 'Aquaman' star a hefty sum to appeal. "You don't ask for a pardon if you are innocent. And, you don't decline to appeal if you know you are right," a spokesperson for Heard told Radar Online.

That said, Forman was lauded on social media for donating the proceeds from his notebook to the children's hospital.

"Show AH the difference between pledging and donating," one quipped on Twitter, referring to Heard's claim during the trial that she used the terms "pledged" and "donated" synonymously.

"I'm so proud of you for doing this! It was a genuine heart-felt move that no one else did," another gushed.

"This is amazing and you’re amazing for doing all of this and donating to the children!!!" someone else added.
